50% of social contacts missing in gmail!

synced outlook to soocial and got 2200 contacts, then did a full overwrite of gmail with the data and got only 900 gmail contacts. tried it again with full overright and got the same number. very frustrating. also I don't see the automatic backup file of gmail ever being sent to my gmail and I know it was checked. Can someone help.
