blackberry syncml and nexthaus syncje
Hi,
I'm having no joy with syncing my Blackberry (curve 8310 4.5) to Soocial using the Nexthaus SyncJE syncml client.
I've used their product to successfully sync to other syncml servers (e.g. zyb.com)
However I'm having no joy here...
1) I have the sync server set http://sync.soocial.com (and have also tried http://sync.soocial.com:80) (btw - is this a non-standard port for a SYNCML server?)
2) I am using my correct username/password
3) I have not selected any folders to synchronise (although it would just be "./contacts") as I just want to just test the connection.
...all I get back is "Error: 506 while processing message from server: No response available" - according to Nexthaus this is a fundamental issue and it doesn't even look as if it is correctly "shaking hands" with the soocial syncml server.
Anyone any ideas?
Have just tried the zyb.com syncml server settings again and it works a treat (in case you're wondering, not really a fan of the ZYB system and am keen to try out Soocial - Highrise integration etc very interesting for me)
thanks
Joel
p.s. if Blackberry client beta testing is a better option then please count me in

Inappropriate?it might be a syncm-version mismatch. I'll try to look you up in our logs (guessing by your name); maybe there's some information there.
I’m thinking therefore I'm being?...
-
Inappropriate? The Nexthaus client seems to send faulty messages. So yeah, they're right it *is* a fundamental issue :-P
Mhh... let me elaborate a bit:
The client is sending messages with an empty body (except for a Final-element). You can't do that in SyncML; it's not valid. Our server expects a command indicating what the client wants to sync (what's it there for if not for that, eh?)... Aha! So that's where it went wrong. Maybe you should try again but now give it something to sync. Please give it a shot and let us know what happened.
I’m wondering if this is really solved so easlily

Inappropriate?Hi Tijn,
thanks for looking into this for me.
ok - I've updated the settings on SYNCJE to sync the contacts (folder name "./contacts").
...exactly same response
"Error: 506 Error while processing message from server: No response available".
I would assume now that the SYNCJE client IS now telling your SYNCML server that it wants to sync the "contacts" database but something is still wrong with the syntax of the conversation.
...I've done this a few times at around 13:00 London time if that helps.
Joel -
Inappropriate?I tried to look up your logs, but since the number of soocial users is exploding, I can't find you in a reasonable time. There are just too many Joels. Can you post your username (that's your e-mail) here?

woops. You might want to edit this to say jh at jojet dot com or so... to avert the evil screen scraping spam bots. -
Inappropriate?You got that now Tijn?
thanks
Joel -
sure. got it :-) -
Inappropriate?yeah well...
Nexthaus says, creds and alert 200 ("let's do a fast sync")
We say, status 212 ("ok, logged in") and status 508 ("sorry, can't do fast sync since you never synced before"), and alert 201 ("try a slow sync")
And then your Nexthaus-client never replies... :-(
(I might add that every phone can handle this. It's a completely normal beginning of a sync session.)
I’m singing the blues

"Error: 506 Error while processing message from server: No response available" sounds like our response never arrives at the phone or that the phone does not understand our response at a lower level. (wbxml?) -
Inappropriate?Hi Tijn,
ok - syncje has a "force slow sync" option. Have tried a couple of times, no joy though, client log says:
"Starting sync 11/17/2008 13:58:20
No contacts sync anchor found, slow sync
Error: 506 Error while processing message from server: no response available.
