'Business phone' syncs to 'Other' across 2 outlook syncs
I've synced all my contacts from my Outlook 2003 SP2 laptop to Soocial using Outlook sync. Contact with a 'Business Phone' in outlook appear as 'Voice,Work' in Soocial, which is fine.
When i form a connection to my desktop Outlook 2003 SP3 and sync, all the business phone numbers end up in 'Other'.
How do I correct this?

Hey everyone,
We have just released the new Outlook client. This version will solve all the Label issues between Soocial and Outlook. Please upgrade to this newer version as the old version does not sync anymore as of today.

Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue as well except it's on for Home, Voice synching to "Other" in 2007. My set up is as follows:
Gmail -> Soocial <->m effectively out of luck.......
Any idea when this mapping will more accurately occur? For the time being, I may have to stop using Soocial :(

Inappropriate?I thought I had this problem, but when I checked my Soocial contacts it looked like business phone (in Outlook) was identified as Work (in Soocial). The problem I have is when it transferred to Gmail the "Work" (from Soocial) was identified as other.1 Comment Add a comment

Jared, sounds a bit messy. I would like to look at the progress of the contact to see when and why the labels changed in a wrong way. Can you give us the name of the contact? Here or to support (at soocial dot com) Thanks for helping out!

This has been happening to me too! And then what happens is that after the fields labeled "other" sync to soocial, they sync back to gmail and double up! Also, here's how my set up works and I'll explain why this can be doubly bad:
1.gmail <-> soocial <-> outlook
2. outlook <-> company exchange server
3. exchange server <-> iPhone
The iPhone doesn't recognize any "other" fields for email or telephone.... so when these syncs happen over time and the info doubles across contacts (i.e. home and other phone numbers duplicate) outlook contacts get bloated OR some contacts will just have an "other phone" field and will not show up as having a phone number on the iPhone *at all*. This first scenario has happened with my nearly *all* of my contacts. Usable but sloppy... :( arghhh

I am having the same problem. Initially I thought it was some mistake, and I tried everything again from scratch, but didn't work. Next I thought if I manually edit my contacts in GMail it would fix, but Soocial over-wrote all my manual, changes.
When I first found Soocial, I found this as a perfect way to sync IPhone contacts with PC/Gmail over the air. However this quirk/bug has started to frustrate me. Only work around I can think off is to use only Home/Mobile contacts. -

We are fixing the issue where the "work" numbers sync to Gmail as "other" at the moment. So that should not happen anymore within a few days. Soocial will release a new version of the client within a couple of weeks from now. This version should take care of the annoying "label' issues and a few other issues too!

about the exchange thing I have two comments:
Unfortunatelly Soocial still has to reccomend to not use a multiple sync solution like the one that you are describing. There are too many unknowns in a situation like that.
That brings me to the secont point. You say that the Iphone does not support the "other" label, but when I check in the Iphone itself you can add the other label to a phonenumber in the Contacts interface. It is actuall a very common label. So, I am puzzled now as to why those are not making it to your phone.

I have install IPhone 3.0 and when it Syncs with Google contacts it still does not pick up the Other phone numbers.
The problem I have is that the Soocial Contact is identified as Voice, Work and still syncs to Google Contacts as Other.
That issue has not been resolved. I have even deleted all of my Google contacts and re-synced with Soocial with the same result. -
Inappropriate?The voice label will be removed in the next version of the Outlook client that we will be releasing within a couple of weeks. We will keep you posted here when it is available.

Inappropriate?I've got Outlook, OS X, and Gmail all syncing and this problem persistently messes up my contacts. I've tried deleting from every app and starting fresh, but over time the Other phone number issue creeps back, and ties into another issue already logged regarding duplicate contacts being created.
I'll have to disable and possibly look for another software solution, my contacts are too fragile for all of this to keep happening.

This problem will only get fixed with the new Outlook client. Labels will always be a pain with syncing between different OS'es But the update will make it significantly better to where they will not be changed in most cases.

Inappropriate?Just wanted to put my two cents in. I too am troubled by the work numbers from Outlook 2007 transferring to Soocial "voice, work" category but then to Gmail as "other" category. I use Google Mobile Sync to then sync my Gmail contacts to my iPhone, and since "other" isn't a supported phone category in iPhone, the number just doesn't transfer. Bart, you said that you saw the "other" category in iPhone contact entries, but I don't see it on my iPhone. I have the new 3GS with 3.0 software.
FYI, this is my big picture setup:
Outlook 2007 <--> Soocial <--> Gmail <--> Google Mobile Sync <--> iPhone

Just an update, but for some reason, Soocial has asked that I do a full rescync of my contacts and, of course, after having painstakingly fixed all of the "other" numbers, they've all be repopulated and I have duplicate contacts across the board. Good thing I backed up before that happened.
Any update on when the new client might be coming out way?

In my case, the issue is that the Mobile field from the Mac Address Book gets synced to Other in Outlook...
Does Soocial have documentation of the various mappings that are used server-side?
