Duplicate contacts after initial Gmail sync

After the initial sync with Gmail into an empty Soocial account, a lot of contacts (600 of 1200!) show up twice in Soocial. These are really simple contacts: they have a name, company and only one email address.

1. Can you please fix the bug?
2. Will the auto-merge eventually make these disappear?
