Highrise contact not syncing with Gmail
I created a contact in Highrise, and it synced with Soocial, but isn't getting passed along to Gmail. When I created the contact, I added all the info to Highrise, and then immediately (before a sync could take place) emailed that person from Gmail. So, in Highrise (and Soocial) I have the full data, but in Gmail the contact only appears in Suggested Contacts with an email only (no name). Am I right in thinking a combination of Gmail not allowing multiple contacts with the same email (so Gmail won't accept this new contact from Soocial), and Soocial's "poor man's" filter (so Soocial won't accept the contact from Gmail) is preventing this from syncing/merging?

Inappropriate?Hi Chris,
Your hunch was completely right. Every e-mail address can only be in Gmail once. If you delete the existing contacts in Gmail, Soocial will be able to push it's contact to Gmail. Unfortunatelly we can't make Gmail to do what we like.
I’m happy this is not a soocial bug

Inappropriate?That's what I thought, thanks.
Would it be possible to add a step to the "poor man's" filter to solve this. What I was thinking was this:
1. Soocial retrieves Gmail contacts during a normal sync.
2. Soocial uses the "poor man's" filter to remove suggested contacts.
3. Soocial could then compare the contacts that were filtered out to see if they match any other contact. If not, leave them alone as usual, if so, DELETE, the filtered contact from Gmail, then when Soocial pushes the updates back to Gmail the contact will be accepted.
If that wouldn't work, what about at least letting the user know there is an issue. I am assuming when you Soocial pushes contacts to Gmail, there is an error message generated if they aren't all accepted. Soocial, could send an email alerting the user to the conflict so that it can be resolved manually.
While I am thinking about it, it would be nice if there was an indicator on the Soocial contacts page telling the user how many contacts from Gmail were NOT being filtered.
Thanks again.
Chris
I’m pretty happy with Soocial so far

Inappropriate?Hey Chris, thanks so much for your input. We are going to make things smarter for the Gmail sync as we go for sure. We are looking for a good way to give feedback about things Soocial does to the contacts that are hidden now.
I’m happy you are liking Soocial
