How do I manually setup a SonyEricsson phone?
In some countries Soocial cannot (yet) send an automatic configuration message. How can SonyEricsson users still use Soocial?

Even though we currently only support easy setup for some countries (UK, USA, Australia, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, and Canada). However you can still use Soocial with most phones.
For the SonyEricsson the manual setup is as follows:
1. Go to Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Synchronisation
2. Choose 'New account', give it a name like 'Soocial'
3. Fill in the following details:
- Server address: http://sync.soocial.com
- Username: <your>
- Password: <your>
- Connection: Pick an existing internet connection on your phone
4. Choose Applications and select Contacts
5. In 'App. settings' > Contacts, fill in Database name as './contacts'
Optionally you can set the interval for your sync, which is recommended to be set at least once a day. Most other brands don't have this feature, you should be happy and use it. ;-)

Inappropriate? When using these settings my Sony Ericsson C702 doesn't successfully sync. What sort of things do I need to check with my phone/carrier to troubleshoot this?
I’m disappointed
-
Hi Ed, have you got internet successfully setup on that phone? You can test this by using the browser on the phone... -
Wow that was quick! Yes have internet on the phone setup. I get the error "Soocial Session failed Communication interrupted". -
Inappropriate?hi i am in france and did not recieve the settigns via sms i tried 3 times
i use internet via gprs currently on this phone
the session does not work and it does not sync -
Inappropriate?fcuignet, what telecom provider are you using in France? We'll need that information to run some tests with our configuration message provider.
-
Inappropriate?Ed, if you mail your soocial username to support at soocial.com we can check in the logs to see what the error is with your phone. I'm using a Sony Ericsson W800i and it's working very well.
I’m sure we can get the SE syncing
-
Inappropriate?Thanks Simon. I'll do that.

Inappropriate?my phone operator is orange, my number is +33610825338 it is an ericsson W660i my id fcuignet or fcuignet@mac.com
thanks in advance -
Inappropriate?fcuignet,
I'll check the configuration message problems you are having with the operator that delivers them for us. In the mean time you could try and set it up manually by following the instructions described above
The settings aren't specific to a Sony Ericsson, they should work for mostly any device that will let you set up the synchronization settings manually.
Sorry for the hassle! -
Inappropriate?Ed, it seems like your has never connected to Soocial yet which makes me suspect it might be a network problem. Either us, soocial.com, or your provider was having some network problems. That, or the configuration we sent doesn't work for your specific operator.
Could you try it again and let me know how things go? -
Inappropriate?first thank you for your answers
i tried the settings but my phone answers me the session is not initiated.
in the settings, there are many more places where i have to enter name and password (for the server for instance) than in the initial post of S. Fontain above -
fcuignet, don't worry about the other places where they ask for more details, you only have to fill in the user/passw once in the main settings not advanced submenu's. Feel free to email support@soocial.com for more personal help on this. -
Inappropriate?Whey I do the steps as described above I'll get the error: Version not suported.
How can I change the version on my M600i? I've heard something about version 1.1 and 1.2. -
Inappropriate?Hi Pizzapete,
where exactly do you get to see "Version not supported"? On your phone or in our webapp? Feel free to e-mail me at support@soocial.com.
cheers,
Daniel -
Inappropriate?Hi, I've just joined, but can't seem to work on my W960i. I'm from Singapore and my provider is Starhub. Everything is ok (connections etc.). There is a "active" status under contacts but after a while failed.

Inappropriate?Hey Lawrence,
Did take a look at your logs. There is no sign of your phone contacting our servers. That's not good.
Did you look at this thread for tips:
http://getsatisfaction.com/soocial/to... ? -
Inappropriate?First used capital letters in the e-mail when signed for Soocial, like Name@gmail.com.
It did not allow to sync, reporting wrong username/password.
So, username should be without capital letters: name@gmail.com
-
Seems like you phone still hasn't completed the sync. That will cause problems. Did you get an error? -
First, I had problem with cyrillic names. I had to change all the names to english transcription. After synced contacts in outlook and google using cvs files. And then wanted first too try to sync phone and outlook using bluetooth and phone gave message that ran out of memory - 190 contacts :(((( It's a shame all the devices and software have different fields and formats for contacts..... :((( You are doing great job. Hope I will find way to sync everything. Is there possibility to select only limited number of contacts to sync with phone. -
A limit of 190? That is not a whole lot. Unfortunately we can't limit the amount of contacts we send yet.
