it's a complete mess!
So I have a mac, Windows XP, Gmail, N95 phone and an Ipod touch. The mac syncs with Soocial fine. Soocial produces a network error when syncing with Outlook. Soocial doesn't map fields correctly with Gmail, messes up the n95 and produces 4 copies of the address of each person all slightly different all with mistakes.
A complete mess. With a lot of deletions and manual editing I have removed most of the corrupted copies.
What seems to be happening is that Gmail has no field structure for the address data. Outlook has very fixed structures. This means that the dupe checking goes bonkers where data is not exactly right.
So it all ends up a complete mess as soocial duplicates records from Outlook when compared to gmail but in doing so tries to move fields around to make sense so that when Outlook looks at the dupes they look like different records. This then causes yet more copies to appear in Oulook as new which are then duplicated back to gmail.
After restoring backups and cutting the links the duplication trail has stopped but boy was it a mess! Still lots to do guys.....

Sorry for messing you up... We know the outlook client is very Alpha. For now probably keep it out of the loop.

Hasnt happened too much since resetting anything..... but gmail has only synced once since that!1 Comment

John, duplication tends to happen at initial syncs. We are working on fixing that. But your reply is a bit off topic. Looks like your problems were not caused by the Outlook client. And that seems to be the problem here.
