Merge broken for numbers with spaces or international prefix
Phone numbers not merged correctly, phone numbers with spaces or international prefix incorrectly treated as new number.
The following numbers are the same number - but are incorrectly treated as different numbers when merging contacts:
"07799612345"
"(0)7799612345"
"+44 (0) 99612345"
"+44 (0) 99612 345"
"+4499612345"
"+4499612 345"
"0779 9612 345"
The majority of my duplicate seem to have this issue.

Inappropriate?Hey Dean,
Our worst nightmare is deleting stuff in contacts, that's one reason we have been very carefull with merging things that are not exactly identical. We nee to spend time on making this better, we will get to this. Thanks for your feedback. -
Inappropriate?I've stopped using Soocial because of this issue.
I hate nothing more than having to deal with duplicated contacts.
You should pick the "best" option (the one with the most information, ie Matching parens, country codes, etcetera) or better yet, regex those things into a template, i.e. ADD information 1234567890 => +1(123)456-7890
This shouldn't be a big deal.
I’m done.

Inappropriate?Hi,
Wes I am indeed to frustrated - however the UK telephone number system alone is not a simple one. Calling for the display if numbers for different cities to be displayed in deferring numbed groupings.
Ofcom sets out how telephone numbers should be displayed, this is a great resource for that information:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_telep...
However having said that this is a complex task there are 2 key points:
1. It is expected for Soocial to handle this complexities for the user.
2. There is a generic mechanism for the display of UK numbers, this is outlined at the bottom of the Overview section here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_telep...
Regards,
Dean. -
Inappropriate?Well, to restate, for American users with American numbers, at least, this doesn't have to be an issue.
I’m having my outlook broadened.

Inappropriate?Alhough thee might be ways to do this better, it only should be an issue as you add connection to Soocial. We import contacts from that connection and compare them to existing contacts. When we find that they are similar enough we will merge them. You might have to do some cleaning up after that. After that initial sync it should not be an issue anymore.
We will spend some time in the future to see if we can make that merging process better. But it is going to be impossible to make it go perfect for every single contact. Specially since our users are from allover the world.
But again thanks for your feedback guys. Our passion is to make Soocial more and more Hassle Free. Any input to help us do that is highly appreciated!
I’m thankful and exited
