Merging contact manually.
It would be nice to check two contact from list such as a mail contact and a phone contact, then merge them. After i sync with my phone and gmail, i have my friend phone and email contacts separate.

The first step is to calculate similarities, this is something we are implementing now.
The next step is to have the merging working correctly, this has been working for a while now - you can test this over at labs.soocial.com.
Thirdly we need to create the interface - this is where we are at now. Won't give you an ETA just yet, but at least letting you know we are working on it.

I don't like the black box of soocial. I uploaded 1000+ contacts via gmail, now have 900 something, but still have three contacts w/ the same name and three different email addresses. That should obviously be one contact w/ three email addresses.
Then the idea is for gmail and other mail clients to allow all three to be part of auto-complete not just the primary one.

Leland, you are very correct - we are working on making the magic a lot more transparent. We will be adding better explanations to the different connections about what happens when we merge.
As mentioned above we will also be working on additional merging features on top of the automatic merging. Stay tuned... -
