N95 sync "system error" at the end and double contacts
i've installed on my NOKIA N95 (FRANCE ORANGE) the synchronization with soocial (automatically via your sms) all seems to work but at the end of the sync i've got a message "system error" on my phone, I see then that sync has worked : contacts are in double... on my phone and in the soocial webapp too
In connections page of soocial web site, i have two Nokia N95 (one Nokia N95 and one NOKIA N95) connections and none of them mentions that they have sync'ed, so i can't delete one of them.

Hi Gauchet,
There was a bug in our server with regard to the behaviour of N95. It's been fixed and I've been able to succesfully sync with it.
Could you give it a go?
Unlike I expected the duplicates remained. I'll get back to you on that issue.
I’m happy with the quick fix

Inappropriate?Hi Gauchet,
Sorry for the trouble with the sync! Please mail me your soocial username at simon@soocial.com and I will have a look to see what's going on.
Our contact duplicate detection code should recognise the duplicates next time round and should remove them.
I’m sorry for the trouble but here to help

Inappropriate?Hi Gauchet,
Good news and bad news. Good news is that I've run into exactly the same problem and that it's not something to do with your phone or provider. Bad news is that I'll need a bit of time before I get it working for the N95. I'll keep you updated.
I’m up for a challenge

Inappropriate?thanks the sync finishes well now!
And in the connections page on soocial webapp the NOKIA N95 connection is marked as being sync'ed so great i've remove the Nokia N95 connection (the other one).
But still in my phone i have a lot of duplicate contacts and on the contacts soocial webapp too! the sync has not removed the duplicate ones but add them to the list, now i have 5 times the same contacts.
but i know you will fix this! thanks for the quick answer!

Inappropriate?Guachet,
Yeah, the two connections is because your phone will identify it a little bit different than we're expecting it to. It might identify itself as a "nokian95" (without spaces), making it harder for us to match it with the phone you specified when setting up the connection and sending the configuration.
The phone that hasn't synced can safely be removed, we're working on a fix for this.
We're working on a solution for the duplicates, one that will allow you to find & match duplicates in the webapp perhaps. On top of that we'll be constantly improving our merging algorithm to make sure these duplicates occur a lot less in the future. -
Inappropriate?I have searched a solution to delete my duplicate contacts :
I've emptied all my contacts on my phone,
I use the sync from N95 to soocial, (but I've had an another system error on my N95 while this sync, perhaps due to the empty contact list on my phone)
and the results is that all my duplicate contacts have disappeared in the webapp.
It's not a good solution because that way the sync between my mac and soocial warns me all my mac contacts will disappears...
I think that a duplicates contacts function on the webapp would be very useful even in the production stage, and a function of merging two contacts two, i don't know if it could be the same or two, i prefer always simple functions.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Hello
I have exactly the same problem wityh N95 8GB today with "SFR" in france. I have launch sync two times.
First I have an error message "bad adress" but I find my phone contact on soocial web site
Second I have cancel sync but contact were duplicate in soocial web site
Thanks -
The duplicates you see are due to our merging queue being very long. Hopefully once this is done your contacts in Soocial will have been deduped. The bad address errors could be due to your connection or the fact that our sync servers are too busy. Try again later and if it persists let us know.
Thanks for you patience. -
Inappropriate?I have clue!
At start i have two connections for my N95, i have delete one. After sync i have two again.
the new spell : NOKIA N95 8GB -
Hi there, the doubling of your phone in the connection list is a bug on the phone that we haven't implemented a work around yet, you can safely ignore it. -
Inappropriate? When I sync with my n95, it gives out the following message:
"Your phone is having trouble syncing with soocial.com. Visit http://www.soocial.com/support for help."
But it still syncs a bit... in some cases only 3 fields are synced (name, surname, company/email/phone), in some cases everything.
-> n95-1, firmware 20.0.015

Inappropriate?Hello
Yesterday I have launch sync between my phone and my soocial.
On my phone all contact with the same name have been overwrite by my gmail contact. I haven't put phone number on gmail and i have lost phone number of some contacts.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Hi Barbapapaz,
that is not good. Sorry for the hassle, that is not how things should have gone.
Would you be able to e-mail me your username to support@soocial.com and I'd love to help you out and get this sorted out. -
Inappropriate?Leaving aside the "double contacts" issue, that's a different problem.
Some deeper testing, so I've made a backup of my soocial database.
Then, downloaded the contacts (got a .vcf).
Then delete all contacts on the phone, set Sync to "Only to phone" - I want to get all contacts from soocial and overwrite the phone's adressbook. Upon syncing, I get a "server failure" error (or something like that).
Set Sync to "Only to server" as I have a backup (++++ for this feature!) - "server failure".
OK, Sync set back to "both ways" - Sync works, "Sending 200 contacts", afterwards both databases are empty, the latest adressbook changes won, everything worked out as expected.
So I overwrite the soocial database with the last backup and resync the phone - works, "Sync done" success message but I only got 60 contacts on my phone afterwards and all 200 at soocial.
Another sync brings no change, but the "Your phone is having problems..." message.
Not very usable at this stage... :(
I’m aware that syncing is a very delicate topic and I'm willing to sit out most bugs till syncing works just because I like soocials clean interface.

Hi Fihu, thanks for your patience - we really appreciate it. Can you send us an email with your username to support@soocial.com so we can have a look why your phone is not syncing correctly. Alternatively keep trying and see if it get's through. Just to be sure you are expecting 60 contacts on your phone - the 200 are not a bunch of duplicates? -
Just realized you have already sent us your details - thanks. Will look into it. -
Those 200 are a mix of gmail and phone contacts - all duplicates already removed. And I expected all unique (200) contacts on my phone. -
Inappropriate?Still not working after the latest update.
My latest try, step by step:
1. Manually remove dupes from my contacts and correct some numbers -> 196 conctacts left at soocial.
2. Create backup
3. Sync from N95 - 4 new contacts are sent out, 230 contacts (huh??) are recieved from soocial
4. Check addressbook on N95: fine, but some contacts are missing
5. Check contacts on soocial: now 194 contacts (although 4 new were sent from n95 and I can find those in the db as well as those missing on the N95)
Now, if I start another sync, it cancels stating the "Your phone is having troubles..." message. After that, my phone's addressbook is corrupted. Reboot the phone and everything's fine. Sync again -> crash & break phonebook.
Seriously, :(
I’m frustrated
-
Fihu, sucks man that you're experiencing all this pain. We'll look into it more deeply and see what's happening. Thanks for your patience. -
Inappropriate? You only get the "Your phone is having troubles"-message if it's sending illegal SyncML. We must make a workaround for your phone, and we will (or I will), but it'll take some time.
I’m frustrated with nokia, why don't they read the specs?
