Nokia E62 (S60 3rd) only syncs one way: to Soocial
Nokia E62 (S60 3rd) only syncs one way:
I have installed the sync settings via SMS (well done btw) and everything looks correct in the sync settings. When syncing the phone reports that it is "sending 140 contacts" and completes this successfully. Then I get a "system error" after a period of waiting (time out?).
The only support topic I could find that addresses this indicates that the server might be busy so I tried a gain late last night and still no luck.

Inappropriate?Hi Skoskie,
I've got an N61 showing the same behaviour here, I'm working on the problem.
The root cause of it is that when we receive all of your contacts we compare each contact with every other contact to try and detect duplicates. If we find duplicates we merge them and try to send them back to your phone in the same sync session. Sometimes this takes too long and the phone thinks we've crashed resulting in a "System Error".
I'm working on a fix but can't promise when it'll be done, but I promise to keep you updated.
I’m sorry for the trouble

Inappropriate?I have similar problems on a nokia 6230i. Indeed, if I remove all my contacts from Soocial and then transfer the contacts from my phone to Soocial, the process DOES work. I'll let you know how things turn out when there are duplicate entries, since with such an initial transfer, there are no duplicates to be detected.

Inappropriate? On my E50 there is probably the same problem. No errors, but it syncs one-way only. I checked sync log and there is information that all incoming contacts were rejected by the phone.
I’m irritated

Inappropriate?renczus,
I was able to find your account. You are sending contacts that contain pictures. It causes errors. We should be able to support those. At least they should not cause any problems. But it seems like we are not doing well.
We will have to look in to it. My N95 (also an s60 phone) actually gives an error message if I try to sync a contact with a picture in it.
Might take a while to fix...sorry.
I’m sad

Inappropriate?maybe you should give users a way to ignore pictures (some checkbox in settings?) until you'll manage to fix it? It's better to sync something than nothing.
And: what pictures in contacts coming TO Soocial got to do with sending any contacts (especially those without pictures) TO PHONE? Contacts without pictures don't seen to sync either. .(or I misunderstood you and errors caused by contacts incoming to Soocial causes rejections somehow?)
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?renczus ,
The problem is that the phone will send everything that is in a contact. We can't manipulate the phone that way. (Good idea though)
The main thing going wrong with pictures in contact is that they will get sent to Soocial but after that don't make it back to your phone. That should explain the behavior you saw.
