Possibility to choose which contacts are being synced to Highrise?
Hi there (once again),
I have a free Highrise account which allows no more than 250 contacts (and I'm not willing to pay for this service because it's so expensive). At the same time, I have around 500 contacts in Soocial. I don't need most of these contacts in Highrise because I'm using it rather for my business contacts.
Is there a possibility to choose which Soocial contacts will be synced to Highrise and which will only be synced to the other services, like Gmail and my mobile phone?
If there isn't, will it be made possible sometime in the future? ;)
Thanks in advance and all the best!

Hi spacebear,
yes there is a possibility to manage which contacts are synced to Highrise and which not. Click 'Edit this contact' when selecting a contact in the Soocial webapp and check the 'Work contact?' checkbox to indicate it should sync to Highrise.
Theres a little icon that will show up on the contact list, next to the persons name to show it's a 'work contact'.

We know it's rather limited atm and we have a whole new system in the works that will allow you to tag and filter contacts. You'll be able to tag which contact goes where.

Inappropriate?Hey Daniel,
thanks for your quick reply!
Okay, then I must have misunderstood the description under the "Work contact?" checkbox, I thought it would mark a contact as "shared" in Highrise so that other people can see it...
Because it says "Mark this if you want other users that are connected to your Highrise account, to see this contact".
I’m thankful, but with little doubt remaining

Inappropriate?Hey space,
yeah we should rephrase that help text. Thanks for pointing it out! -
Inappropriate?Hello Daniel,
And what about doing a nice trick like syncing with Highrise all contacts in Apple Address Book that belong to a defined group like "Highrise" -
Inappropriate?Louis, yes good idea. We are actually going to change the way you can organize contacts to sync with any connection.
Right now we sync Highrise contacts if they are in a group called work. In the webapp there is a tickbox for each contact to put them in the Work group. We will be changing this so you can tag any contact with any word and it will then be in that group. Then you can choose which tagged contacts should be synced to which connections.
For example that way you could tag any contact you want with 'highrise' and have all 'highrise' tagged contacts sync to Highrise. Same goes for tagging contacts with 'private' or 'phone' and sync only those contact to your phone.
I’m happy with the new features coming up!

Hello, what's the status on these developments? Have they already been implemented? -
Inappropriate?there is also a need to sync more than one highrise account, some contacts go to Highrise1 and some contacts go to Highrise2 and less frequently a contact would sync to both.

Inappropriate?@Lukas
Not yet. Thanks for asking. We will make it. Just didn't get around to it.
@billcarroll
We will make that feature. Might take a while. When it is done you should be able to decide for each contact where it goes. Multiple Highrise accounts will be probably become possible too. Might be part of a premium account though.
