software update fails
On Mac OS 10.5.5,in the Soocial system preference I ask for it check for software update. I find the updates (Soocial 1.0b25M and I have 1.0b25) and it downloads 1175k and restarts the Soocial preferences. If I ask for update again, it will find the SAME update. It seems the software update never happens. What is up with that?

Inappropriate? This is actually a problem, not just a question
-
Inappropriate?OK. This is a problem not a comment!
-
Inappropriate? This problem is not solved for me. Same issue remains.
-
Inappropriate?Ditto here.
-
Inappropriate? So, given that I cannot update to the new software, can I delete the software from Mac and then re-install it?
-
Inappropriate?i have managed to solve this problem by syncing my Mac Address book directly to Google contacts without some meddling intermediary software.
This is the solution. It works.

You do not need iPhone or iPod touch to make it happen. You need to create a simple plist on the Mac to make it happen.
Use Goolge sync to sync your gmail contacts with blackberry.
Delete Soocial and you have a fix.

beans, how did you get your Mac to sync Google? I'm not syncing any iPod's/iTouch/iPhone on my Mac and I understand that you have to do a iTunes sync to one of those devices, with the hack in place if using an iPod, to kick off the sync to Google. It doesn't appear as simple as hacking the plist... you need to then do something else to get the sync started, and that's what I'm unclear about. -
Inappropriate?I think after you set this up, you can just manually run iSync to trigger a sync.
-
running iSync, I just get a warning saying "No device activated..." -
Inappropriate?Agaree. You do have to have iSync running in the background. The new plist needs to be placed in the general Mac HD rather than individual accounts.
-
Inappropriate?Just keep iSync running. Devices refer to hardware, I think, but the service needs to be active to sync.
-
Inappropriate?I have this problem as well, and seem unable to sync. At this point, the little plist hack to enable it directly seems pretty appealing, especially since all of the other synchronization can take place elsewhere along the line. I'd love to use Soocial, but at the moment it's far from compelling.
