Soocial deletes contacts instead of syncing
Soocial wants to delete contacts that are present in my Address Book but not in Gmail - this is an irritating problem, and one that's caused me to disable Soocial for now. The last time I synced, a message popped up on my Mac warning that syncing with Soocial would change more than 5% of the contacts stored on my computer.
When I went through the contacts that would be deleted, I noticed that this were addresses (etc) that were present on the computer but not stored in Gmail. Ideally, Soocial would have been able to upload these contacts into Gmail - and not attempted to delete my data!

Inappropriate?Hi s_m_i,
After the first sync from your Mac, soocial tries to see if there are contacts that could be merged because they are pretty much the same. If that happens soociaal will try to delete the two original contacts on your mac and add a new (merged) one. That is what we think is happening here. Could that be?
What does Soocial say? Are these contacts present on Soocial? If so it is not very likely that Soocial will try to delete those on your Mac.
If you want to be sure nothing goes wrong, you can make sure you have a backup of your Mac Address Book before you go ahead and let Soocial do his thing.
Would you mind helping us out by trying to see if this works ok? We really need your feedback to make Soocial perfect.
I’m hopefull we can figure this out

Inappropriate?Hi - that is not what is happening. Soocial is trying to delete contacts but when I go through the details of the contacts it wants to add (fewer than the number of those deleted), there is no overlap. In other words, it wants to delete contacts without, as you suggest, adding a new merged one.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?Right - I have HAD IT with this software. Another day of logging into my gmail to find 1/3 of my carefully ordered contacts (SOME OF THEM GMAIL ONLY!!) deleted. This is too much of a liability.
I’m fed up
