syncing contacts on N95 stops at 260
When I sync my Nokia N95 it gets stuck at sending contact 260 of 1024 and then reports "invalid host address". I now have rather a lot of contacts because something has generated 2 duplicates of every contact. Please let me know if you can help out with this - I'd prefer not to delete all of my contacts and restore them from backup.
thanks

Inappropriate?I'm quite busy solving this problem as we speak since this is our biggest issue now. The syncserver-part is done, however the webapp doesn't understand the new flags yet.
If you'd like me to, I can help you out now by running my magic dedupe-script.
I’m happy this problem is amost solved

Yes please - have a go at the de-dupe script. It's all backed up. Cheers

Inappropriate?Hi - could you run the de-dupe script? I get new duplicates at every sync, so I guess that de-duping followed by a sync will reduce my number of duplicates from around 4 to just 2?
thanks

Inappropriate?I could ... if I knew your username. (I'm not sure who you are Ian. I'd rather not dedupe contacts for all Ian's with a Soocial-account.)
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Hi - my username is ian AT technologybox DOT co DOT uk. thanks

Inappropriate?Hi - could you de-dupe those contacts for me? Also - will the duplicates be removed from my Nokia N95 on syncing with a de-duped Soocial account?
thanks

Inappropriate?Sorry it took so long. I was away for a few days and my colleagues can't be trusted with my wonky code :-).
The deduper needed some updating but now it's happily deduping your contacts. It'll take some time...
I’m happy the script is actually in a working state again

Inappropriate?Hi - thanks for that. The contacts are now correct.
However, when I hit Sync on my Nokia N95 it started downloading 2080 contacts. I stopped it and got around the problem by deleting all of my contacts and the N95 connector. I then re-added N95 and synced again. Now with just one copy of each contact, I am unwilling to sync the N95 without some confidence that I won't get loads of duplicates. Where could I keep track of this bug so that I know that it is safe to try again?
thanks

That's right. Since the contacts you now have are different entities containing the same contact-information. When your telephone says 'contacts' it probably really means 'commands' which can be 'adds', 'updates' and 'deletes'.
Of course, what you did gives the same result as syncing (provided you haven't edited any contact on your phone.)
I'd like to encourage you to try to sync the N95 again. Just make a backup (http://www.soocial.com/backups) before syncing to be safe.
PS. I don't see how it could, but if syncing goes really wrong, I will help you out. (I'm on-line during office-hours in the Dutch timezone.)
I’m a safety net
