Well the good news is we are working on the Blackberry client, and have our first working alpha. The bad news is that I can't give you an ETA, although it's not far away. If you send an e-mail to support at soocial DOT com and let us know you're waiting for the blackberry - we'll notify you upon release.
If you'd like to part of the test team before it's publicly released, you can e-mail us too.
I’m excited that we're developing the Blackberry client

Inappropriate?Yes, you really need to update the list of BB models presented on your site. You should consider some of the more popular/recent models, such as the Pearl (8100 series), the Curve, the Bold (9000), and the Storm (9500)

Inappropriate?heya,
yeah we'll be updating that soon, for sure before we release our BlackBerry client (ETA is now within one month).
Since we started to plan to support BlackBerry, RIM has come with some new models (which look quite sexy, esp the Storm!) -
Inappropriate?I signed up because the front page said it supported "black berry" and it currently obviously NOT.
wasted time, getting my hopes up and now a lot of disappointment. Almost as bad as dating a very religious girl!

Oooh that sounds very bad... (dating a very religious girl) but that could also be a good thing. ;-)
Anyway sorry your first impression was a bad one - we will have the BB client available soon - we are still testing it internally, fixing the last few bugs. Please be patient and we hope we can have you happily syncing soon. -
Inappropriate?Thing is, one of the most important things about trusting a company is follow through. You've posted here about the blackberry app coming... YET THAT WAS FIVE MONTHS AGO. I've visited your site periodically to frustratingly see "blackberry app coming soon!" Soon before the apocalypse? Soon as you get it out? Soon as Jesus comes back? You shouldn't promise something you can't deliver.

Hi Marti, thanks for you question and we hear your frustrations. We are still working on the BlackBerry alpha and you can download it and help us test it (send us an email - support@soocial.com - and we will hook you up). There are still a number of critical bugs that we are working on. It is taking ALOT longer than anticipated and we are also very upset about this. I cannot give you an estimate when it is going to be officially released. We understand the pain that you are in... but we do hope to provide you with a solution before Jesus comes back. -
Inappropriate?Stefan, I'd love to help and I'll do just that. I guess what I'm pointing to is your wording. It isn't "coming soon", but your website gives the impression that it does. A better way to not offend people is by saying "in development", then you aren't being dishonest. I LOVE soocial and I think it will be groundbreaking for BB users when the app comes out. But it kinda feels like you're leading us on... if Jesus comes back, I'm gonna need my contacts in order. References, ya know....
I’m indifferent

Hi Marti, you are right it is misleading. Let me explain a bit more what has happened and is happening with our BlackBerry client. When we put the 'coming soon' on our website, we had an initial version running on our testing Blackberry's. After some more testing we ran into some serious bugs that we are still looking to fix. One of the bugs is that it can take up to 2 minutes _PER CONTACT_ to save to the blackberry. This bug is so serious that we cannot release it yet. We are working with the development house that built this and trying to get it solved.
So I agree that it seems misleading and these months have proven it to be. However there was never any deception intended. -
Inappropriate?2 minutes/contact is not that bad!
Try other applications to see what I mean: Audible (not owned by Amazon) takes up to 30 seconds per button click. Google synch takes easily over 30 seconds per sync.
It's not that bad because after the initial sync, many people only have 1 sync at a time to do and it goes on in the background?
I will email and ask for the beta version and let you know what I think. -
Riel,
did you see we have a Blackberry client available now? https://www.soocial.com/connections/b...
It does not take 2minutes/contact! :-)
