Where Are My Contacts?
Now that I have Soocial running, it doesn't really seem to be working correctly. It copied all of my Address Book contacts to Gmail and it started to pull my Gmail contacts into Soocial. However, I don't see my Address Book contacts in Soocial and I don't see my Gmail contacts in Address Book. Oddly enough, I have MobileMe (I get it from work, but I'd like to sync to Gmail) and when the MobileMe sync kicks in it sees all of the Gmail contacts Soocial pulled. I have no idea where it's finding them. I don't want the MobileMe sync to process because it pulled all of the Gmail "Suggested Contacts" (I know there's an option, I just didn't think about it). I tried restoring my Address Book backup, but MobileMe still sees the stuff Soocial pulled down from Gmail.
I suppose my real questions are... where is MobileMe finding these contacts that Soocial copied and why doesn't Soocial show my contacts from Address Book?

Inappropriate?Hi Bretterson, it sucks that our experience is not hassle-free, could you explain a bit better what you did exactly?
So if I understand correctly you setup the connections for your Mac Address Book and for GMail? So you should have these in your connection list, right?
I don't really understand this statement "It copied all of my Address Book contacts to Gmail and it started to pull my Gmail contacts into Soocial."
Are you also using the default GMail sync built into OS X 10.5.3 (which lives in the Address Book preferences)?
So the real question is - it looks like Soocial has some ghost contacts that MobileMe is finding but you can't see them in Soocial in the online web app, right? It's always really hard to debug these sorts of issues when MobileMe or the default GMail sync is on.
Did you sync twice some where in there? Or even restart an aborted sync? What it's doing is looking at duplicated between the aborted sync and the current sync - that can take a while. That's why the contacts are not showing up - they should be soon.
We are working on improving the speed of the merging and at least letting the user know what is going on.
I’m thinking we need to let users know what's going on....

Inappropriate?Hey Bretterson,
Your contacts were getting stuck waiting for a Social servers that weren't running over the weekend due to a mistake......We are really sorry for that. The contacts should show up today. If because of this you end up with a lot of duplicates, please let us know so we can run a deduper.
I’m sorry we messed up there

Inappropriate?I'll give it another shot sometime soon.
I'll also clarify: "I don't really understand this statement "It copied all of my Address Book contacts to Gmail and it started to pull my Gmail contacts into Soocial."" Soocial copied the contacts I have in my Mac Address Book to Gmail. It had begun copying contacts from Gmail into Soocial.
The weirdest part was that the contacts Soocial should have been copying from Gmail to my Address Book seemed like ghosts. I couldn't see them at all in the Address Book application, but the MobileMe sync did see them somehow. I don't have the Google/Gmail sync enabled in Address Book. -
Inappropriate?Hey Bretterson,
please let us know when you try again what happens.
