Why won't iPhone sync complete using synthesis?
Hi there
I can't seem to successfully complete an OTA sync between soocial and my iPhone using Synthesis. I get about halfway through before I get a network error and the whole process fails, but leaves me with loads of dupes in both my iPhone and Soocial.
I have followed the instructions in this topic

and removed all photos from my iPhone contacts, but this does not help.
I do currently sync from Soocial to Outlook, and from Outlook to my iPhone using iTunes, so the contents of my Soocial and iPhone Contacts are near enough identical - I would just like to be able to sync from soocial over the air. How do I tell Synthesis to overwrite my iPhone Contacts with my Soocial contacts? I would be happy to use that as a solution.

When did you last try? I checked your logs and the most recent sync I could find with the Synthesis app was from the 24th of July. Is that correct? Or did you try after that? -

Yes that is correct. That was the last date of an attempted (but not completed) OTA sync. I didn't want to try again and risk recreating all those dupes.
If there is an easy way to overwrite my iphone contacts from soocial I would prefer to do that - as I guess that would allow it to sync correctly for the first time.

I was asking because we changed some stuff to our servers that makes the syncs go way faster, and the changes of the initial sync to time out have gone down dramatically.
Would you mind trying again. I am really curious to see how the sync will run this time.
You know eventual dupes can be taken care of by the deduper on the https://www.soocial.com/tools page right? -

Yes I do, but last time I tried, then I had to manually merge the dupes as the dupes would appear as 'firstname surname' in one contact and as 'surname, firstname' in the duped contact - so the automatic dedupe didn't work for these dupes in Soocial. I still have a few of these dupes left in Soocial now - all appearing from S onwards (ie 'Natasha Salter' and 'Salter, Natasha'
I really don't want to have to manually merge or dedupe 280 duplicate contacts... will you be able to force an automated dedupe if I do another OTA sync and get the same problem this time?

Inappropriate?The dupes because of the last name, first name are taken care of now. There are a few left to be merged, but those do not score high enough to be automatically merged.
