google analytics integration (modifing the department)
google analytics ask for one of two things:
upload a spezially named empty html file,
or modify the <head> part of the site.
Since I can't upload that file and can't edit the <head> part I'm stuck without analytics.
Would be great to find a way around this:)</head></head>

We understand that is would be a nice feature for power users, and we'll try to come up with a solution for you. But, as this is a little difficult to integrate into the user interface (because its really a power user feature), this might take a while.

Inappropriate? When exactly does Analytics ask you to confirm ownership of the page like that?
When I just tried signing up for Analytics, it gave me the code to insert just fine without confirmation. I only know that process from Google Webmaster Central... -
Inappropriate? You can perhaps do as WikiDot did: just make a special input field in settings so that people who do have a GA account can enter their number there, and that number will be inserted in the needed code by the website engine.
I’m optimistic

Inappropriate?Yeah, that's a good idea!

Inappropriate?Verification status: NOT VERIFIED
Last attempt Nov 7, 2007: The verification meta tag is in the wrong location on the page. It must be within the first <head> section of the page.
You get no statistics if you can't verify the ownership of your (sub)domain.</head>
I’m indifferent

Inappropriate? Is there anyway Pownce can do this feature? Thank you Rad for your comment.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?I fixed your custom CSS, Brad.
I got to admit though that we're no closer to a solution for Google Adsense right now, sorry.. :-/ -
Inappropriate?Thanks for the fix, Chris.
I'm not concerned with Google Adsense, but rather, just with any kind of hit counter system. But I guess you guys will make an announcement when something comes around. I shall wait!
Brad
I’m satisfied but not in any kind of sexual way.
-
Inappropriate?Oops, meant to say Analytics, my bad.
You can paste the counter script into the description field by the way (after pressing CTRL+U to switch to HTML editing mode) – the problem is just this meta tag verification procedure that people detailed above.
(Also, the next time you edit the description, the WYSIWYG field will strip out the JavaScript.. I'll see if I can at least fix *that* issue right now.)
I’m a banana!!1!

Inappropriate?Awesome; thanks. I'm pretty used to script getting stripped in WYSIWYG (i.g. wordpress), so no worries.
And I also had no problem inserting the code and getting in to work.
Rock on!
Brad
I’m happy with my position in the universe and the benzos in my pocket

Inappropriate?hm, I've tried to insert the counter script into the description field
however for some unknown reason it drops this part:
script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript" -
Inappropriate?hm I've checked how Brad cheated it
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); -
Inappropriate? You hit ctrl-u to go into html mode, then paste it in, and then hit save. That works. If you go back into text edit mode even for a second, it ruins the code. So if you save it properly, then later accidentally hit edit but change nothing... still ruined.
-
Inappropriate?cheers I'm fine with ctrl + u, just that was interested how you cheated the bot that removes the google url
-
Inappropriate?I just pasted in the code and it worked since then... I didn't know there was a bot!
