Inappropriate? You can re-blog a post and then edit it to add your comment to it. AFAIK something more sophisticated is underway.

Inappropriate?I would LOVE to be able to comment on people's posts. Both post created on soup and posts imported through the feed.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?I would to.. Just needs to be non intrusive.. I mean, you can have a link "comments (4)" or something and clicking on it would send you to the single post page with all the comments expanded.
A soup is a microblog so it shouldnt be "comment centered" but I think it should have that option, maybe you could add it in the "options" drawer?

Inappropriate?Stoweboyd has a good point, that shouldn't be too hard to add?
Soup is competing with Friendfeed, but I like it better because the product is WAY better looking and customizable. Steve, have you checked out streem.us? You can comment, but you can't pull in every feed ("pipe"). http://streem.us/hdunce -
Inappropriate? The Tumblr's discuss feature is one way to do it but personally I find it quite noisy. IMHO soup should not include inline comments for that reason and implement an integration with Jabber (xmpp) for commenting. That would be pretty neat. Giving the opportunity to reply to a comment in our IM instantly and establish a contextual conversation with other souper's fully logged on our soup ;)
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Normally I prefer reactions - but if I just want to comment and not have the comment in my soup - I simply repost to another account/group
