Inappropriate?Thanks, glad you're enjoying Soup!
I agree that this would be a good to have: we believe users own their data, and should also have the right to vanish. Unfortunately it's hard to give these features precedence above actual functionality improvements, so I can't make any promises about when we'll get around to implementing them... -
Inappropriate?Do you have any ideas regarding the format of exported data?

Inappropriate?Maybe simply a html-file where everything is embedded?
Or some kind of indexfile + datadir?
Or maybe just an archive (with timestamped filenames).

Inappropriate? The format should be just a complete RSS or ATOM feed, since that's easiest to import elsewhere. Uploaded images could be provided as an archive, possibly?
-
Inappropriate?I actually meant backup as in download for local use?
-
Inappropriate?Is saving the RSS sufficient?

Inappropriate?I wonder waht has happen to this idea. its really important for me as well to have this kind of backup.

Inappropriate? Thanks for bumping this and reminding us. We've just implemented a quick first step towards a solution: In the next few days, we'll have an option online to get a full RSS feed (all posts, not just the last 20; plus links to the full-sized images instead of the 400px width limit we have on normal feeds).
In the future, we will likely add a way to download all your images (as ZIP?), all feed import data (as OPML) and maybe even a HTML archive.
And of course there'll be a full API at some point...
I’m glad we got around to this

Inappropriate?Yes, well, its been a year and - will we get it? : /

Inappropriate? As Christopher mentioned one year ago, we do have an Export RSS feed. This provides all information that you need in order to e.g. write a service that imports your full Soup.io account.
Export RSS can be found if you login (http://username.soup.io/login), then go to your Soup, open the admin panel. Then under "Privacy" click on "Export (RSS)".
Unfortunately other options (e.g. zip file export) are simply out of reach for now. It should be easy for developers to write a tool that fetches the Export RSS feed and referenced images, in case a more extensive export is needed.
I’m confident
