Reverse lookup for TinyURLs
Hi again,
TinyURL is a nice feature and all, very useful for Twitter, but I'd really like to see the actual URLs, at least in the tooltip. What do you think about doing a reverse lookup on TinyURLs in tweets?
Have a look at

Inappropriate?Hey, sorry we didn't reply sooner.
I like the idea, and would like to have this functionality!
However, those scripts you linked all seem to work by screen-scraping preview.tinyurl.com. I'm not such a fan of that... it would break too easily if they changed something. If they provided an official API that'd be a different story.
To be honest, with the low priority and the hackish solution I think we're not going to get around to this anytime soon – sorry!

Inappropriate?Maybe http://www.unshorten.com/ has an API, at least they've got a Firefox plugin. If not, its not a big issue, just a nice-to-have feature.
I’m ... well, tired, but who cares?

Inappropriate? For some reason I noticed this weekend that the most obvious API to resolve TinyURLs is already there: HTTP HEAD. Just grab the 301's Location header and you're all set.

Inappropriate?Duh, of course!
We're testing a version of this now, locally.
So far I'm planning to support 'tinyurl.com', 'snipurl.com', 'snurl.com', 'is.gd', 'twurl.nl', 'piurl.com', 'bit.ly' -- any other major ones you can think of? -
Inappropriate? Not exactly a shortener, but I use decenturl.com a lot. Would hate if those URLs got replaced by the originals though because its more kinda permalink service.
There's a list at http://notlong.com/links/ -- but apart from tinyurl and snipurl I didn't know any of those actually ;~) Love the bit.ly domain, guess I'll use that one in future as well. -
Inappropriate? This is now online (but not retroactive, future tweets only)
