Inappropriate? That would be great as soon as we have money to spare for proper certificates (although I'm not sure, offhand, how all the [custom] domains would affect this.. likely that might make it complicated).
What I don't want to do is just self-sign a certificate: In modern browsers, that just leads to a horrible user experience...

Inappropriate? Please get a CAcert account and make www.soup.io *optionally* available via HTTPS (so I can just point my bookmarklet there). No need for the custom domains, login goes via www.soup.io anyway. Using Soup in Internet Cafes makes me feel very icky currently.
I’m sure its easy

Inappropriate?Yeah, optional https with self-signed certificate, still better than plaintext.

Inappropriate?Secure login is definetly needed. Transferring passwords in plain text is simply no option. I don't know a lot of web services, that don't offer one...

Inappropriate? This idea started 4 months ago and there's no secure signin yet. I don't want the whole site encrypted, but the login page only. Is that really so hard to do? How much does a certificate cost when you don't want to use a self-signed one? In my opinion it's irresponsible to not offer a secure login these days...

Inappropriate?Wow, guys, this is getting insane. A basic certificate costs about 10 euro per month, not to mention a self-signed certificate on a "hidden" URL. Could you *please* do something about this?
I’m afraid of using soup in internet cafes

Inappropriate? The complete lack of company participation shows how important any security of user data is to them.
Another web service that's a no go to recommend...
I’m frustrated
