Inappropriate?I understand that this important for you. Hope this answer will satisfy you:
The basic business model is premium accounts (= freemium model) plus selling custom domains directly (so you don't have to worry about CNAMEs).
As you might have noticed, these things are not yet live. We are currently planning/working on those features, expect them to arrive within the next months.
About Soup disappearing, of course I can't promise anything, but:
a) You'll always have the Export options to backup your data
b) It doesn't look like we are going to disappear anytime soon. Although we are currently thinking about our next investment round, rest assured that in the worst case the servers will be the last thing to go (we keep our operating costs as low as possible)
