The Soup API is starting to remind one of Duke Nukem Forever.
I'd really love to write a Soup Android Client, already got my hands dirty on a Firefox Extension (and had to realize it was way simpler to reuse the Bookmarklet instead of trying to get posting to work, with no way to get ones hands on the blog_id to post do and so on), and it's ridiculous that the only feasible way to do so seems to be parsing the HTML of some sub sites...
At least give us a JSON API to retrieve Posts, to retrieve my available blog_ids, to post and to repost without such a stupid repost auth token, that can't be too hard. If you need inspiration, take a look here: http://www.tumblr.com/docs/api
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Absolutely! Currently the plan is to look at the AtomPub standard as the basis for our API, which would make Soup compatible with most existing blog publishing software, and provide a very easy interface for new third-party apps to access Soup.
However, we haven't begun work on this yet, so it will be another while... -
Inappropriate?Bump
-
Inappropriate?Could you please implemtent AtomPub or something like this?
I’m not that happy right now, but I would be!

Inappropriate? For those of you that could not wait(like me):

The SoupIoClass can be used in any Ruby Application and of course adopted to every other Language. If someone shows interest in this, i can rewrite SoupIoClass in PHP5.
I’m a little impatient.

Inappropriate?I really want this. This is almost a reason to switch the service.
I want mobile posting without the hassle of a browser.
This request is so old, I have problems believing that you will ever get to it. -

Agreed. Give us some API finally! -
Inappropriate?I just switched to an HTC Desire with Android... this is indeed a reason to switch blog sites. Doesn't look like we'll ever get the API for soup.
I already had to start using blogspot.com for blogging random mobile snaps when I bought my last phone (K810i) as uploads to Facebook didn't work. The Desire comes with Facebook API so I can now post photos direct to Facebook. That's good. The main downside to switching away from Soup is that the most obvious alternative appears to be Facebook... and I'm sorry but that's just not going to happen, not with all the other crap that gets posted through there! I need something more niche. I rarely browse the net on my PC nowadays, and I suspect the same will apply for most people, increasingly so over the next few years. So either the Desire's browser needs to support the Bookmarklet, or someone needs to come up with an API pretty soon.
I’m frustrated

Indeed. Mobile posting is the biggest hassle with soup without a api right now.
It is practically impossible to use soup.io in a mobile browser. (Does not bother me but is maybe a opportunity for improvement)
Mobile posting could actually be relatively fine with that email posting functionality. (API would still be better!)
Bit this functionality is broken since the dawn of times as far as I can remember. :(
If you don't do the API please fix post by email -
Inappropriate?I've just realised that it has been 2 years since someone "official" replied here, and that it's already been half a year since I last ranted in here without any official answer.
This pretty much sucks.
I’m even more frustrated than before

Do yourself a favour and find a new platform for your life-streaming or digital stream. After an initial surge of enthusiasm, I found that even the most basic functionality of Soup.io is simply not working, and there’s no sign of any official development, support or even interest in the product.
I’ve subsequently deleted my account and migrated the content to Tumblr. It’s not entirely suited to life-streaming, but at least it works! -
Inappropriate? It's on the way, just take a look at http://elpollodiablo.soup.io/post/613...
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate? Can we also have PSHB real-time notification please? The linked web will benefit!
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?Agree with Astro! Please allow us to add RSS feeds and support PubSubHubbub so updates can show up in realtime!
Also, make the soup.io feeds realtime by pushing them to a hub... This way they cna go to ping.fm in realtime and be shared to twitter/facebook and others! -
Maybe open a new thread for this and contact @kitchen or similar?
Not sure how much we should dilute this tread here.
But I agree, that hubsub blubb blubb thingy sounds pretty awesome
