Inappropriate?I dunno if you've realized this for yourself yet, but I got back this response a while ago:
Yostinso,
Thank you for your inquiry and your interest in SpiderOak.
As it pertains to your question, unfortunately we do not support backing up at the file level - only at the folder level. There are many reasons for this decision but the main one being organization. As we allow users to attach as many different devices to their SpiderOak Network as they would like, it is much easy and efficient to track the movement of files within folders than single stand-alone files.
I do hope this methodology has not caused too much of an inconvenience and please don't hesitate to send further thoughts or reactions anytime.
Best wishes,
Ethan
I’m dissapointed

Inappropriate? At he moment you have to put it into a folder...it would be more convenient not to have to do that. However, if it is a case of one or the other, folder processing is more essential...in my opinion !

Inappropriate? In my opinion, the software have to do what I need and I need a software wich can backup the files I choose ...

Inappropriate?Individual file selection is REALLY needed. I was a bit astonished playing around with SpiderOak when I realized this glaring shortcoming.
Allow us to select individual files. If we have to get out of "IDIOT MODE" then so be it but COME ON...by folders?! What is this? Microsoft Bob?!
I’m in shock.

Inappropriate?NONE of the other products in this market offer folders AND files. Those that do files only are a pain to use (for me !)...so I prefer the Spideroak compromise of folders. This does mean you have to be creative / flexible with your directory scheme...but I find it worth the effort to take advantage of the excellent facilities Spideroak offers.
I’m thankful

NONE? Really? CrashPlan does, JungleDisk does. They normally work by allowing you to click on a folder which selects everything under it. You can then unclick files/folders under there to exclude items. This is BASIC functionality, nothing that advanced. It's sad to see users just accept this limitation in an application. -
Inappropriate?Sorry but you have to try JungleDisk. I'm using it in addition of SpiderOak.
The best file selection in this type of app that I tried.

It seems that SpiderOak programmers have already implement this and will be optionnal in future release.

If it's coming, that's good to hear. Jungle Disk does have a nice very flexible file selection dialog that others could learn from. CrashPlan falls in between.
