"Add Name" claims my alias "doesn't look like a real name."
When attempting to add my legal alias "Buffalo Spirit" the Add Name tool balks stating that my alias does not look like a real name...well, it is a real name, now what?
Further, I read Jay's post...
"We want people to be real on Spock. When people contribute information and add tags to other search results, we want people to use their real name so that they get credit for the contribution and also so that it encourages good behavior. We found that people who use an alias are not as truthful on the Internet."
...and would like to comment on it.
I think your missing a trick here. As long as the primary name is a real First and Last, allowing aliases, nicknames, and on-line pseudonyms would allow Spock Robot to locate associations between folks various monikers and their real names. With these associations in place users will have a better chance of locating the personalities their looking for based on sphere in which they travel. Not to mention creating the ability to locate someone who routinely "hides" behind their alias.
2 cents to consider.)
btw: read about spock in IW this morning, created an account, and diggin' the service; thx!~)

Inappropriate?I'm sure they thought this through, hence the filter. There are people with these types of names (e.g. Scary Guy) but the majority of the users do not. All you have to do is email the support team and I'm certain they can take care of that for you.

Inappropriate?Thx Phil,
I appreciate your response, thought I would argue your first and second points. Relax however, I'll save us both the aggravation and ask a follow-up regarding your suggestion; can I you supply a support team contact address or link? Unless you're referring to the "Feedback" or "Help" links? Help ultimately lead me to a faq, which landed me here.
I’m swimming up stream
