Can I specify a custom link for my event page?

Have you ever wanted to send a user to your event page rather than ours? Well, we have listened to your feedback and will release this functionality at the end of February.

This feature will specifically enable you to change the event page to one of your choosing. This link will propagate through the calendar and widget applications.

    Tagging events?

Events can be tagged for tracking interactions of users and for API calls.

Add tags to your event when you first create it. Then, contacts that add themselves to your contact list while interacting with that event are automatically tagged with those tags.

Finally, when you send an email or SMS message to follow up on the event, you can easily reach the people who are most interested in that event.

Here is how you do it!

    1. When you create an event, specify one of more tags.

    2. Then, users view your event through one of our widgets, and decide to add themselves to your contact list.

3.If you view the new contact (in the Contacts tab), you will see that they have an 'auto tag' that matches the one you originally set on the event.

    4. Then, when you send an email or SMS message, you can filter to send only to contacts tagged with that tag!

Whats the difference between "Classic" and "Promote"?

    Classic Calendar -

The classic calendar was the first product that Spongecell produced. Classic is a dynamic web 2.0 calendar mainly created for personal use.

    Promote-

Promote lets you create and promote events easily across websites, email/SMS, blogs and social networks. You can also collect detailed information on how people interact with your events and how they spread virally. Spongecell lets you use this data to more effectively create and promote future events, and to follow-up with targeted messaging that enables you to do scalable, one-to-one marketing.

Published calendar events not showing up?

You have signed up, added events to your calendar and published the calendar to your website or blog. However you cannot see any of your events...Where did they go?

    Have no fear...

By default the Sponge doesn't think its a good idea to share your personal calendar and events with the world, thats why by default we keep your events private.

To share selected events on your published calendars, open the event detail and set the "Viewable by" field to "Everyone (the World).

    What is a tag?

Spongecell uses tags in various ways.

    -Contacts-
Use a tag - or - simple word to describe your contacts.

For example, if you promote to two groups of contacts, "Shakira" fans, and "Aerosmith" fans, then upload the contacts in two CSV files. When uploading the first file enter the tag "Shakira", and when uploading the second file, enter the tag "Aerosmith".

When you send emails and SMSes, the tags will allow you to target one group or the other.

Tags are useful at organizing many different lists and groups of contacts.
