"There is a problem with the connection to Spotify. Please try again shortly"
I have been getting the message "There is a problem with the connection to Spotify. Please try again shortly" repeatedly over several hhours. Upgraded to Premium, but it didn't solve it. Occationbally my selected songs starts after several attempts, but after each song the same error message appers. WHY?

As our friend JB mentioned:
Temporary solution: http://www.spotify.com/en/help/servic...
We have found the problem and it will be solved soon, but until then please uninstall (for mac don't forget to remove the user settings and cache). After the uninstall, just download and install Spotify again.

Inappropriate?Still borked here in the UK :(
-
Inappropriate? We had some connection problems last night, if you're still experiencing problems try logging out and back in. Let me know if that doesn't solve the issue.
If you experience problems in the future the first place to check is our service status page to see if we're having problems.

Would be nice if premium users are prioritized. -
After a quick test it seems that the problem I reported yesterday is solved now. Thanks!
Thanks for the link to the "current problems" site, too. But the information there in this matter ("We are currently experiencing some connection problems") don't add anything to the message given in the Spotify application itself, so it would probably not have prevented me from posting the error report yesterday. But some info about the reason for the problem, expected time to fix, possible workarrounds (when relevant) etc might have ;-)
Regards JOE,
still a Spotify lover! -
You're right. We were not sure what the problem was at first but have updated the page to offer a potential fix. -
Awesome customer support, Andres...many thanx for that!!! -
Inappropriate?i have the same problem but my brother dont get it when he logson his account
-
Try closing Spotify and re-starting. That should solve the issue in most cases. -
Inappropriate?I've got the same issue and closing re-starting spotify client doesn't do anything.
I’m sad

We working on a fix. Exiting and restarting should work eventually as only one of our servers is having problems. Trying a few times should eventually connect you to one that is working. -
Inappropriate? The connection problem seems to happen each time an advert tries to play!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I've tried that; it stops the problem for a while. Then the same thing happens - "There is a problem with the connection to Spotify. Please try again shortly".........
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I've re-installed Spotify and it seems to have fixed the problem for a while. It's back again though and there are still certain tracks I cannot play and get this error message when I attempt to.
I’m frustrated
-
https://www.spotify.com/en/help/servi... - the certain tracks is something we are looking in to. keep an eye on the status service page. -

- guys we are looking in to this problem! Keep an eye there for updates. -
Inappropriate?I have had the problem for the last two days. Only certain artists do this, I can for example not listen to The Cranberries or Caravan Palace, then I only get the message and silence. However my flat mates can listen to everything. Having tried logging out and in, and restarting the software absurd mounts of time I am thinking of reinstalling the software. Does not seem all that reasonable though as me and one of the persons who get it working every time share PC using it at different hours. Hm.
My country settings (Sweden) and postal number is correct.
Will close down and restart 10 times or so more, then reinstall.
I’m frustrated

Hi
Give it a try to uninstall the app on your windows computer. This will give it a clean start. Does this improve the situation? -
it worked with uninstall and install for me. -
Inappropriate?I've had this problem for a few weeks now: 75% of the tracks are not playing, especially when they're new to me. Very frustrating. Reinstalling didn't help. I'm running on OS X.
I’m frustrated
-
75% of tracks are not playing? Can you post some URIs to tracks that are not playing. Also which country are you in and do you have high bit rate music enabled? -
Inappropriate?Okay let's see but let's also first clarify that the high rate of tracks NOT playing are the ones that I have not yet listened to, ever (or in a long time). I'm in Finland and the high bit rate is off.
So I want to check the latest Coldplay album:
Coldplay – Life In Technicolor ii: spotify:track:740Au2frGDk4QcTm8xtAph (not working). Maybe the previous one? Coldplay – Square One: spotify:track:5DSPvCmOtmlKBGQwpsQvNd (not working).
Baah. Well, let's head to the Justice album: Justice – Genesis: spotify:track:0bHUSuO7EFH1ZpcQdqRL6W (not working). MSTRKRFT JFK – 1000 Cigarettes: spotify:track:69MtMAkf7nVB9tLhfdfC7V ? Also not working. Hmm, some finnish bands... Jonna Tervomaa – Suljettu sydän: spotify:track:0GxhZVG4Tj7prEP79ZcnPH is not working. Promoe – Svennebanan: spotify:track:4pl4VW1I0gJy3O7m8JsthF gives the same error - and also Au Revoir Simone – Another Likely Story: spotify:track:5TTx3AzaJJp03urMYWVQVR.
These were random tries, today I got Grieg's Peer Gynt to play anyway so not all tracks are broken for me. Are these enough or do you want more of these? I can try to help out as much as I can. -
This should be enough to find the issue. Thanks. I'll let you know when I get some information. -
Can you try opening the Preferences menu, then playing one of the tracks you posted, see if that helps? -
Inappropriate? It seems that did the magic trick and it works again - weird! Thank you, can you tell why that fixed it?
I’m happy
-
I have no idea. The problem will return when you exit but it seems like the preferences trick works. Our devs are looking into it. -
Inappropriate?Same problem here today, high bitrate off solves it. Premium user.
I’m hoping for a fix
-
Inappropriate? Both a coworker and myself are experiencing this problem on just one track (so far). My coworker is a regular user, I'm premium. I've tried with both high and normal bitrate, as well as the preferences trick, without any luck.
If it helps, the Spotify URI is spotify:track:068smurCqz675qvFsEajw7
I’m a wee bit disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Im having this issue as well, Im a premium user and ALOT of tracks isn't working.
The same tracks won't play either at home or on my computer at work if I have enabled high bitrate. If i disable high bitrate they work fine. They are different computers and on different ISP's so it seems the problem is on your end. The tracks play just fine on my iphone (do the iphone app only play songs in low bitrate?).
A couple of songs that won't play:
spotify:track:0cTgx8q9AMkLyLVhlrkgsG
spotify:track:2NvAYU0M5itMBOwTR9wW0U -
Inappropriate?Having problems with both high & low bitrate versions of songs for a couple of days.
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate? It still doesn't work here in Stockholm since a couple of weeks ago. About 70% of the songs play fine, but the rest just gives the infamous "There is a problem with the connection to Spotity. Please try again shortly." message.
It also seems to be random from day to day. Over the weeks some tracks suddenly stopped working and other started to work again.
Is there any ETA on the solution?
I’m short of music
-
Have a look here for a temp fix:

A fix that solves it for good will be rolled out next week. -

Inappropriate? Thanks for the fast reply. The uninstall, removal of the cache and reinstall worked wonders.
I’m thankful
