A mistake or ?
At "the big spring cleanup", amongst others, i lost the Blank & Jones "Relax" album.
In an update a few weeks back, i was therefore very happy to find out, that it was now available again ( i even made a post here thanking for the upload of several Blank & Jones albums.)
Guess what: With todays update, it is now gone again!
Is this a joke ? Please tell me it is, because this ongoing disappearence of uploaded and available albums is killing me.
An app simply can't work this way, it's getting all Forrest Gump: You never know what you get. Tracks available one day, gone the next.
Why is already available tracks still being removed- You told, it was a one time cleanup only ?
PLEASE find a solution to this. It's getting very very annoying. If this continues, my suggestion would be that Spotify should change it's name to "Russian Roulette" instead :(
EDIT: Found the blog entry, where it returned, and was available again in Sweden:

And the link to the album announced in the google.doc:

Inappropriate?Spotify can't find a solution to this as it's nothing to do with them.
It's the record labels that seem to take some perverse pleasure in pissing of their customers. It's pointless complaining to Spotify as it's not their fault and they can do absolutely nothing about it.
I feel sorry for Spotify who are taking a lot of flak and, in the long run, are in danger of failing as a business because of this. Perhaps this is what the record labels want?
The power hungry record labels can't stand to see a new business model for distributing music succeed which they are not in total control of, which they don't own and which was not their idea.
I’m wishing the record labels would give up on their 1950's business model and modernise

Inappropriate?Maybe it's the record labels, maybe it's not. It could be an error within the app itself aswell..
Why should the record label allow uploading of an album unristricted, that has already been removed once, only to remove it the second time again a few weeks later due to eventual country restrictions?
This makes no sence, and doesn't neccesarily have to do with the country restriction (since it should have been restricted in Sweden already, during the uploading as most restricted albums do, and not a few weeks later, which is the case with this album).
In my oppinion, it would be very interesting for a Spotify employee to look into this specific case, as it might well expose a bug in the restriction/uploading procedure.
Just my 5 cents.. -
Don't try to make sense of what the record labels are doing, you'll just go mad eventually.
My theory is that they don't know what their doing. They just wish that all this new technology would disappear so they could go back to selling physical products like LPs, cassettes and CDs. They don't want to think about how to use the new technology they just want governments to change laws restricting it so much that customers would rather buy a CD instead.
They are doing everything within they power to restrict the usage of new technology for distributing media including ignoring customers who are perfectly willing to pay for content but just happen to live in the wrong place. All because of their misguided belief that if they make it too easy for customers to get hold of their products via the net, the bottom will fall out of the CD market and they won't make as much money. -
I have to surrender m8, you might have a point there ;)
Yes, the policy practised by them simply doesn't make sence in the year of 2009.. -
Inappropriate? It appears that a lot of Blank & Jones material is restricted everywhere. Not sure why but will ask to see if we can get more info.

Inappropriate? So we checked this album and it appears that we had it licensed via Kontor New Media. They have recently lost the rights to the album so then we had to pull it as well. Unfortunately take downs due to loss of rights is fairly common. Hopefully we can get it back via one of our other deals in the future.
