Add an indicator to show high-bitrate content
Currently Spotify doesn't show whether the playing song is a high-bitrate version. This causes at least the following problems.
1. User doesn't know whether the playing song is high- or low-bitrate version.
2. User doesn't know whether the current song is even available as a high-bitrate version.
3. User doesn't get the warm fuzzy blacebo feeling that should be associated with the high-bitrate version.
4. Spotify violates Nielsen's first heuristic as it doesn't show the status of the system (http://www.useit.com/papers/heuristic...)
5. User can inadvertently have Spotify set to low-bitrate mode when high-bitrate is preferred.
6. User doesn't know whether a dong played from cache is high-bitrate when the low-bitrate mode is set (and Spotify doesn't tell whether it uses a cache copy high-bitrate songs in low-bitrate mode).
7. If a song is available in multiple versions, the user don't know whether some of those would be available in high-bitrate.
My suggestions to correct this are the following.
1. Add an indicator "light" to show whether the content is high-bitrate or not next to the player controls.
2. Somehow mark high-bitrate content in listings. E.g. add a high-bitrate badge next to the popularity indicator.

Inappropriate?I second (third?) this great idea!

Inappropriate?Great Idea!
I notice there is a spare column by the tracks used by the yellow speaker icon to show the current track, they just need to make another one of these columns to show the bitrate.
I’m happy

Inappropriate? When this has been done, I'll re-enable my Premium subscription.
I’m underwhelmed by the lack of concern for customer satisfaction.

Inappropriate?Much needed, good idea!

Inappropriate?Ever since Spotify messed up the user interface (in many peoples opinions) by adding the buy track and buy album buttons, they don't really hold the moral ground any longer when they try to say they will not implement a feature to display if a track is streaming in high-bitrate or low-bitrate because they want to keep the user interface simple and uncluttered.
I’m hoping Spotify remain true to their core values of ease of use and simplicity.

...or they could add a column for displaying a high/slow bitrate badge and also give you the option to choose witch columns you want and in what order. Then I also could get rid of this annoying buy column! -
Inappropriate?More than 60 percent of the catalogue is available in High Bitrate, and since it's done according to popularity almost everything people listen to should be covered. I saw some stats that appr. 70 percent of the tracks in Spotify have been played at least once. Also, all new additions are available in high bitrate.
