Adjust ad volume to music volume
When listening to quieter music (such as classical music) with the volume turned up, ads can be extremely annoying and painful. Perhpas adjusting ad volume to the average music volume (of the last minute or so) could help?

Inappropriate?This is absolutely a great idea. Apart from the shocking effect (not positive) this even has the potential of damaging ones hearing.
I would very much appreciate if the overall volume of the ads was lowered somewhat, sometimes it's at least 9dB too loud. -

As I wanted to say:

Audio commercials in Spotify are super compressed (ie loud) in order to reach the level of the loudest music titles, to make sure everybody hears them. But people listening to classical music (no compression at all) or any other gentle music genre (ambient electro, soft glitchy things, jazz, etc.) suffer from audio commercials much more than techno or pop music listeners! Hearing an ad between two movements of a classical piece of music is like suddenly listening to death metal and then getting back to your sonatine. You know how traumatic it can be. Someday one might even die from it for ever.
Why not adjust the volume of audio commercials according to the average level of what has been listened just before?
It might sound like a utopian (eccentric?) suggestion, although I think it is technically feasible (doesn't require NASA-like analyses of audio stream), plus it would be a way to treat equally all Spotify Free users. I know we may as well upgrade to Spotify Premium, but that's not the point of this suggestion, Calvin [O:3
I also fear some new users will be instantly discouraged by audio commercials, depending on the music genres they will interfere with, because of the loudness gap.

Inappropriate?Soft and quit music should not be interrupted by loud and noisy adverts.
I'm sure it would be possible to check the soundlevel of what is currently being played and adjust the sound level of the ad to match the music better.
Please fix this!
