Agreed - the Logitech Squeezebox and Spotify would make a nice combination. Bringing Spotify to devices beyond the desktop is on our todo list, but it will be some time before we get there - no launch date for this yet, or exact information on what devices we will support.
Keep an eye on our blog (https://www.spotify.com/blog), when the time is right we will announce support for additional platforms there. Meanwhile, go grab an invite and enjoy the service on your Windows or Mac!

Inappropriate? The whole reason I pay a subscription is to avoid adverts. And Napster is a great price.
-
Inappropriate?Don't see why there is any problem pointing out where Spotify lags behind, and why they don't have my subscription yet. At £5 per/month and 5 downloads (effectively a free album every two months) I'll be sticking with Napster.
Those who say the inteface is good, or why not just play music on your PC are totally missing the point of this discussion. I want to play the best quality sound possible through my main hifi. I also want the huge convenience of being able to control everything from my armchair using my Squeezebox controller. I can do this with Napster. I can select from my saved library, search for songs/artists, browse new releases etc.
So why am I even bothering to write this? Because the Spotify Premium stream is 320kbps Ogg Vorbis, Napster is 128kbps WMA. To me it would be worth the extra £5 in order to get the increase in quality, but not at the expense of the convenience of Squeezebox integration. I'm trying to get the message across to Spotify that they are missing out on subcriptions.
If those kbps figures mean nothing to you, or you have never experienced Napster on Squeezebox/Sonos, then this thread is not for you.

Keith you are so almost there. But if the main object is to control listening to Spotify through your hifi from your armchair, the solution is already here. For the price of a squeezebox you could get a second hand wireless-enabled laptop or netbook. Then with a minimal cost 3.5mm jack to 2x phono cable strung across to your Hifi, you can control both it, and any media server on your main PC, without getting up. With the added benefit of playing youtube videos etc. And if you don't like cables get a wireless audio streamer thingy. Or connect the wireless audio streamer thingy to the main PC and control spotify on that from the netbook using remote connection software. These are better solutions than the Magnus workaround (which has the great benefit of being zero cost to set up and I worked how to adapt it for the Evoke Flow) in that there is no time delay for the encoder.

The thing is, a setup like that is EXACTLY what I don't want. I already have a very good wireless audio streamer, a Squeezebox. Three actually. For example, right now Boz Scaggs is playing in the lounge, Annie Lennox in the kitchen, and if I wanted I could have something else playing in the bedroom. Or I could have all three playing the same thing in sync. All this music streamed direct from Napster through my Squeezebox system. Each player is under simple, independent, control and there are no laptops being carried around or wires laid across the floor. Indeed I can do this without any computer in the house being turned on at all!
I can get Spotify to play over my Squeeze-system using the "DSBridge" method, but it is not a patch on the integrated-Napster experience.
Sorry Stuart but Squeezebox integration is being requested for the express purpose of NOT doing the kind of thing you suggest.

What I said is exactly true quote "But if the main object is to control listening to Spotify through your hifi from your armchair, the solution is already here". What I suggest entirely achieves what you stated as your requirement in your post. The additional requirements introduced in your reply (and indeed what other posters in this thread wish) are a different matter and of course multiple portable all in one Spotify enabled devices such as squeezeboxes are what you need though of course you would need three separate subscriptions to allow all of them to stream at 320kbs simultaneously. -
Inappropriate?Napster Sounds Great on my Hifi and it's wireless. Not going to wase my money on a second hand laptop. Spotify should get it's finger out and give us a app,

Inappropriate?Another vote here for Spotify and the Squeezebox...
-
Inappropriate?SPOTIFY & SONOS IS A MUST! Otherwise i will skip Spotify if i find something else here for Norway!
-
So what's up with all the sonos request on the squeezebox support request page?
I was not aware that they share the same backend? -
Inappropriate?Squeezebox + Spotify
That combo would trigger me to buy both a Squeezebox, and a Spotify Premium account.
1. I'm too lazy/cheap to update my mp3-collection, to motivate a squeezebox purchase. I don't have the time to search and download, categorize and store music, and ripping my CD-collection is just out of the question.
2. I use spotify while I work, sometimes, because I'm anyway in front of a computer. But I would never dream of using my computer as the source of music at home, and thus cannot motivate a premium account purchase (I can live with a few commercials at work)
But a marriage of these to wonderful products would push them both over the must-have edge for me. -
Inappropriate?Looks like now that Spotify are focusing on an API, we can push Logitech to implement Spotify support.

Really? Did you hear something? That vote is really old (April). Last I heard the Spotify API was not one that the Logitech/Slim guys could work with. -

Inappropriate?Oops, you're right. It's an old one.
I thought I had seen an release recently on their API, which triggered this. But it was to do with the metadata API.
I guess I just got too excited.
I’m sad

Inappropriate? Is it possible to see the older posts as I've just changed laptops and would like to try again with the Magnus fix
