Family Premium Pass
I've been considering what spotify would need to do to convince me to sign up to the premium service, amongst a host of ideas already suggested by others in this forum one I couldn't find was the idea of a family pass.
By that, I mean for the current premium cost of £9.99p/m the main account can tie a number of secondary accounts for other household members to the same premium ad free service.
There are a number of issues that would need consideration to prevent abuse of this, however I do not see those as unsurmountable. For users with static IPs the main account could designate the home IP address, which would be the only location the secondary accounts would opperate as a premium account (Whilst the main account could roam freely as currently supported).
For members on dynamic IPs, then the situation is a little harder to solve. One option would be to allow secondary accounts only to opperate on the same IP address that the main account is currently signed in under. Or to be a little more flexible, allow secondary accounts to opperate at either the current or previous IP the main account has used, this would allow family members to use spotify from home whilst the main account was in use at work.
The secondary accounts clearly have restrictions on how/where they can be used, but users always have the option of upgrading to another real premium account if those are a problem.
I originally mentioned this idea a few days back, but thought I'd rework the idea. Thoughts?

Inappropriate? We don't have any plans at the moment for something like this, mainly because there licensing issues rather than technical issues which we have to consider. But maybe down the road we'll look into some sort of family pass like Apple uses with a slightly higher cost. Thanks for the idea.

Inappropriate? Now that the iPhone application is out, "family pass" for mobile use would be great! For example, allow iPhones using the same Apple account to listen simultaneously. Or charge some smaller price like 5€ per additional device.
I understand that it's hard to technically prove memberships in families (like Hicks pointed out) in desktop app. In mobiles, using the Apple account, it should be easy? -
Inappropriate?A family pass would be only fair - and more importantly it would increase total revenues and profits. I would want to buy a "family bundle" for home/iphone and for my three children - but not at £120 a year each! It would cost £600 which is the equivalent of nearly 100 albums and far more than the average user would spend on music each year. It doesn't help me to recommend the product either - and I have many, many opportunities to do that in my role speaking at conferences and consulting. I would suggest some change in pricing policy between "free" and "too expensive" is necessary competitive move if you are to capture the market and achieve your business plans...
