Friends
I would like to add my friends and see what music they're listening to, which are their favourite albums and genres, etc.

We expect 3rd parties to build these kind of features (and many other) on top of Spotify in the future, much like the sites for sharing Spotify playlists that are starting to emerge here and there.
Basic friend/social features could of course also be included in the client, it would be a nice enhancement.
It's a balance act though - making Spotify a full-blown social network may be possible but probably is not optimal. Including basic social features in the actual Spotify client could be a nice middle way.

Indeed, I'd prefer that the spotify client remained as basic as possible. -
Inappropriate? Not the same but related: Some friends and I have made collaborative playlists that we've given to each other. The playlists are named "X's inbox", and if you think somebody should listen to something, we add it to the appropriate one. Easy and fun :)
I agree with your point also, it would be fun to have.
I’m having fun

Inappropriate?mzl how do you do such collaborative playlists? Ca you explain it please
-
As any other collaborative playlist: I first create a playlist for myself (named "X's inbox"), and mark it as collaborative (right-click on the playlist). Then I send the link to all my friends. They do the same.
If there were markers on playlists that indicated new content, this would be a very good solution; currently it is only an ok solution. -
Inappropriate? We felt the same need, so we developed an application to Facebook called Mixifier. http://apps.facebook.com/mixifier/
With Mixifier you can share your favourite playlists in Spotify with your friends in Facebook and send "mixtapes" to other people.
Perhaps that solves your problem?
Mixifier was launched less than two weeks ago but already has more than 500 users.

Inappropriate?Hi all,
I've just launched http://www.spotilinks.co.uk
Spotilinks is meant to be a “musical social network” for (UK) Spotify users, working as a personalized playlist recommendation engine.
As a member, you can compose your own personal board to :
- receive the last playlists associated with each of the criterias you have "spoted" (within categories, moods, artists, members)
- manage and play the playlists and albums you created or selected from other members
- browse, thanks to criterias, in an endless music discovery system
I hope it will leverage the great social potential beyond Spotify URIs, to let everyone discover and enjoy music according to his personal tastes.
Let me know what you think about it from the feedback form !
Cheers :-)

Inappropriate? That would be like bullying those who don't have friends. Plus I just want to listen to music. If such a thing comes to Spotify, then I hope they will have a Remove/Delete button for it.
(Someone also suggested in another thread that it would app with Facebook - Horrible nightmare! I'm just so entirely tired of the facebook-share-button appearing everywhere.)
I don't want the Spotify-app to turn into a community. Find or make a community website instead.
I’m not agreeing
