Highly distorted and weak sound reception
Unsatisfacory sound reception. Weak and highly distorted. Almost as if you tune a radio slightly off its channel? No problem with speakers or sound. Local mp3 plays perfectly

Because I experienced the same thing you describe due to some trouble with the audio drivers when I ran Spotify through wine. It's a bit of a mystery, but it seems spotify doesn't like if I try to show flash media before starting spotify through wine...
