Hoorah for volume normalisation.
Thanks for the volume normalisation feature.
Whilst it's attracted some criticism from people worrying about noise floor etc... those of us with the headroom to turn it up are benefiting from this feature as we don't have to constantly muck about with the volume control when we go between recent hyper compressed CDs and older recordings that have headroom built in.

Inappropriate?I can't agree, the normalisation destroys the dynamics of perfectly good songs. The idea is good and similar solutions are implemented without problems in most of the media players today (replay gain) but spotify apply limiting on music as a rule rather than an exception, even on already loud songs which only should have it's volume adjusted.

Inappropriate?Hmm, perhaps I have missed something here! I thought Spotify's normalisation was a replay gain function eg. that changes the volume of an entire track, thus preserving dynamics, as opposed to Limiting which dynamically changes the volume during a track.
Could someone confirm the multi-thumbed contributors point?

Inappropriate?Seems that my source was mistaken on some parts. But still, limiting is applied on dynamic songs to often for my taste. For example is old iron maiden songs limited to some extent. But good thing that volyme normalisation is default on, it might help ending the loudness war :=)
