I own music on Spotify but someone else is getting all the cash
what do I do if work of mine is appearing on Spotify and the record company that provided it has no legal contract with me, and is making no returns to me?

Inappropriate?I looked up the release in question and it was added to Spotify on October 2 via the aggregator IODA. The label is ESP Disk and you are listed on their homepage. (The info can be found in this google doc)
I think what's confusing you (and me) is the fact that SYNDICORE (BMI) is listed as the copyright holder. I'm not sure what that is all about but it seems to be the same for some other releases (like this one on Amazon)
If your contract for that album with ESP Disk is incorrect, you should write to content[at]spotify.com
And I'm not an official Spotify rep, but rather just a curious Spotify fan. :-)

Inappropriate?What's an aggregator?
ESP disc do not have title to my music - our agreement not only expired in the 70s ( through non-payment), it only relates to vinyl.
I don't want to stop my album appearing, I just would like to see a bit of a return. hell, I have never paid the musicians who recorded it because I promised I would share all proceeds, and in 32 years ESP haven't paid us a cent, although there have been several pressings and overseas sales, and since then of course, a CD. Out of contract.
thanks for feedback, JB :-)

Inappropriate?Hey Peter!
Thanks for clarifying. I think the best way to resolve this would be for you to contact ESP Disk and try to get some explanation from them. For example your album is for sale (mp3 download) at many places including Amazon. It makes me sad to hear you never got anything from the label.
In music an aggregator is an organisation gathering up thousands of labels, making sure the releases from said labels appear in iTunes, Amazon, Spotify etc. It's basically a way to simplify the distribution (even though some would say it adds bureaucracy).
All the best,
JB
