Importing iTunes playlists
How about adding a function that lets the user import his iTunes playlist into Spotify. Spotify scans the playlist and search for the songs in Spotify and adds them to a Spotify playlist if found.
This way you don't have to search for songs already on your HD and you don't have to use two music players.

I could use iTunes' smart playlists to generate some extremely funky playlists at home, have Spotify generate its own playlist off that and just party on anywhere!

Inappropriate?I just realized that this would be child's play if they were to write a decent (better yet an awesome) AppleScript dictionary for Spotify.
Of course, this would mainly help those of us who run OS X, but since OS X is constantly gaining market share and is so much easier to work and develop with, I consider it a given.
I mean, I could probably have a basic plugin written for Plex (HTPC application) in less than 24 hours, and that would just be so kickass.

Playlist automation from itunes has to happen. It's stupid starting from scratch again and the social side of spotify is whats gonna take it that extra mile. Ability to share and mix all those lovingly put together p/l's is a must.

Inappropriate?With an API now existing for Spotify, there is the possibility of such an option coming to life... I assume the only way to do this would be to kick off Spotfy searches for the artist and song title and assume the first result was the correct one.
Fingers crossed for this. This is a must-have for Spotify given their userbase is coming across from iTunes.

Doesn't really take much of the work away though. All it does is create a number of search links based on your iTunes Library. You still have to go through manually clicking on those links and then adding music to a Spotify playlist. Still too much work to convince me to use Spotify.
It also fails to distinguish between music and other media, so TV shows get listed as artists too.
