Inappropriate? Can you give an example of a band without a label? For most CD Baby artists the label is set as the artist name instead. (example: http://open.spotify.com/album/0MWWX7c...)
I’m happy

Inappropriate?no example, just something that popped in to my head - having the label as the artist name does make some sense, but if i was the one to choose, i'd use some unifying identifier for all unsigned bands ("no label" or somesuch)
-
Okey, I understand and yes that could be useful sometimes. -
Inappropriate? All bands have some sort of label identifier in Spotify. If they really have no label then it's usually just their bands name.
-
That's what I thought. -
any particular reason why it's that way rather than having "no label" or something similiar for them, or is it just a remnant from when there was no such thing as a label search? -
I don't know a reason but from the data I've seen from CD Baby for example they fill in the field themselves so it's not necessarily something we are doing. I believe there are some tracks with no label metadata attached.
