linux client
There needs to be an official Linux client.
Wine is not a solution, its a very shaky workaround.

Inappropriate?thanks Jamie - I got an error during part of it but kept going anyway and it worked. I have to $ winelist and then navigate in the virtual C:\program files to get to spotify.exe which is okay but still not sure how to create a direct desktop shortcut - I'll hunt around but ideas appreciated :)

Inappropriate?Just started using Spotify with the Windows 7 RC with no problem.
Primarily use Linux and would like to say we need a native linux client.
Wine is always going to be a bodged solution. -
Inappropriate?I would like to see native Linux client too! I started using Spotify few weeks ago and would like to buy Premium version. Unfortunately I have too many problems running it with Wine, and that is why I'm afraid to upgrade it in case it stops working because of Wine-issues.

But how do I make desktop shortcuts in Linux please?
Right now I do this:
"Run the wine File Manager by typing winefile in a console. This will bring a File Manager that looks like the Windows Explorer. Then you can navigate to the directory that contains your Windows program and double click on the exe file to launch the Windows program. This method also avoids many error you may encounter with strange folder name (e.g. “D:\ ”) that Windows (I mean wine) found it difficult to understand. "
