Possible flaw in UPnP support
Hello,
I've been using using Spotify for quite a while now and I'm mostly happy about the service. I miss a few artists/albums, but I keep my hopes up that It will get better and better :)
I have however recently seen, what i believe to be an issue with the UPnP support.
It appears that the wrong IP address is being reported to my router, generating some weird behaiviour.
A piece of the router log when spotify is started:
[INFO] Wed Mar 04 01:07:00 2009 UPnP renew entry 255.255.255.255 <-> xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:46874 <-> 127.0.0.1:46874 TCP timeout:-1 'Spotify'
as you can see, it's being mapped to 127.0.0.1 (localhost)
Compare this to when some other applications are started.
[INFO] Wed Mar 04 00:38:25 2009 UPnP added entry 255.255.255.255 <-> xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:21469 <-> 192.168.0.101:21469 TCP timeout:-1 'uTorrent (TCP)'
[INFO] Tue Mar 03 23:54:09 2009 UPnP added entry 255.255.255.255 <-> xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:55927 <-> 192.168.0.101:55927 TCP timeout:-1 'Skype TCP at 192.168.0.101:55927 (792)'
Notice that these actually get mapped to my computer, not to localhost.
I might be off with this, but currently it's the only connection i can find.
The problems i get is that when i play music while on a wireless connection my router seems to block my traffic, it does however work while on a regular wired connection.
The block really seems to be connected to playing music with spotify since it happens everytime i press play (while on a wireless connection).
At the same time i would also like to request the possibility to disable upnp and make ports configurable so i can set up my own port forwarding.
Other than this, thank you for a great service :)
Regards,
Tommy

Inappropriate?Are you using any type of software firewall at the same time as Spotify? It's possible that a firewall may cause this type of behavior.

Inappropriate?Hello Andres,
I do not have any software firewall installed, and the windows firewall is turned off.
I can see the same behaviour from both my computers. They are running Windows XP with SP3 installed. -
Inappropriate?Just an update. I've tried both to enable/disable windows UPnP service without any success.
Does Spotify have its own UPnP implementation, or does it rely on the UPnP framework of the OS?
I’m frustrated
