Reporting bad meta data
It would be neat to be able to report errors in the meta data from within the Spotify player. I have only used Spotify for two days and have already encountered a number of misspellings and other errors in song titles and artists names.
The report could end up as subject for review for the Spotify staff, or maybe pooled until a number of users has reported the same error (and then corrected as per a collective "vote").

That would be neat indeed. We are considering adding metadata editing/reporting capabilities to the client.
For now, the best way to get metadata changes into Spotify is to look up the album on Musicbrainz and fix the problem or add the album if it doesn't already exist. Eventually, the fixes will end up in Spotify.
Musicbrainz is a collaborative database, sort of like Wikipedia, but for music only and much more structured.

So you're saying that there will be a merging between MusicBrainz and Spotify sometime in the near future? If so: Sweet! -
I don't quite understand how correcting metadata in Musicbrainz would help. "The Prodigy" is mis-labelled "Prodigy" in Spotify's library, but is correctly labelled "The Prodigy" in Musicbrainz. Is Spotify getting its current metadata from Musicbrainz or is this a plan for the future? If the former, then why is "The Prodigy" mis-labelled in Spotify's library? If the latter, will this fix the mis-labelling of "The Prodigy" and when will this fix be implemented? -

Inappropriate?I don't know how you add music to your database (if you rip CDs, get them sent to you from the record companies, download them from "other sources" or a combination thereof), nor do I know the rate of new additions or number of people involved in the process... but from what I have seen the data quality suffers badly from using Musicbrainz as a source.
Spelling errors, bad capitalization, wrong cover (very common), missing tracks, duplicate releases with identical tracks, wrong genres, wrong year of release... that's what I've seen quite a lot of after having used Spotify for almost a week. My impression of Spotify as a service is very affected by these things.
Knowing that I can do something about it: Better
Getting it right from the beginning: Priceless :)
Also, it's great to know that you guys actually listen and care about our opinions!

Inappropriate? How does other services handle it?
Last.fm uses Scrobbler and it fingerprints tracks. This way the service can know what song users are playing even if tag-info is wrong or missing.
I’m confident

Inappropriate? This and / or some kind of Musicbrainz integration would be a great idea.
I thought that scrobbling works only through tags, last.fm site has reported for years that they're trying to work out some kind of integration with MB but it hasn't happened to my knowledge. -
Inappropriate?Yes, I've found a few collections (best ofs and remix discs) miscategorized as albums. It'd be neat if there were a button I could hit in the app to report metadata problems.
-
Inappropriate?Even in the new Morrissey album's track listing is a typo... Last.fm urges me to correct my tags all the time ;)

Inappropriate?I guess it will take quite a long time to fix up this sort of errors from MB input since, for instance, you can have an LP titled "Gold" from Bryan Adams and another with the same title form Ryan Adams.
Of course, there's a mistagging problem with this: http://open.spotify.com/album/7rIwXFX... (it's Ryan Adams' Gold, but it's displayed as Bryan Adams' Gold... curiously, the LP thumbnail image is correct).
Yeah, we care about this kind of errors and would like some way to report it through spotify. -
Inappropriate? An album called "Reverse the Trend" (spotify:album:1Ljy03j4QoxyBjnFxXitgy) by a group probably called "AFX Worship Ministry" is incorrectly labeled as Aphex Twin (AFX)

Inappropriate? Its a good idea for the reporting to be within the Spotify program. Living Colours VIVID has its Album Cover as Blizzard of Oz by Ozzy Osbourne. Have checked out the album cover on musicbrainz, and its correct. Anyone know of a way of checking dates on corrections and how up to date Spotify is compared to Musicbrainz? Me thinks it might not always be updating?
