Running Mac OS X. Can't log on.
Running Mac OS X 10.4.11. Everytime I try to start up Spotify the mac "authenticate" dialogue box opens asking for my password. It then shows "updating" for a while and then the Spotify log-in box shows "update failed". I have tried downloading Spotify again and that worked once. But next time I tried to log on the same thing happened again.

Inappropriate? Can you try downloading again from our site but uninstall beforehand. That should work.
-
Thanks for your advice. What I discovered in trying this is that I had two copies of Spotify on my Mac. Since I've deleted one of them, it works fine. Thanks again. -
Inappropriate?I can't delete the earlier version - dragging it to trash doesn't work - it says in use, but all applications are closed! How do you delete it?
I’m frustrated
-
I'm the same. I can't delete mine either -
Click the apple logo. Press Force Quit. Click Spotify and press Force Quit. Go to Finder -> Applications and drag Spotify to the trash. -
Inappropriate?I still can't do it. I've got the spotify app on my desk top. When I drag it to apps it replicates so I can never get rid of the the spotify app on my desk top and I can't delete it. I can't force quit it either

Inappropriate? Is Spotify in the Applications folder?
When you download Spotify, you are dragging it to the Applications folder? -
Inappropriate? It's in the apps folder and on the desk top. I have two copies. I can't get rid of the one on my desk top
-
Inappropriate? Can you copy it to another location?
-
Inappropriate?I can copy it, but the original icon remains on my laptop becomes the default icon. What happens is I drag it into applications. I click on it. Another icon appears next to the applications icon. This icon always has the date 28th July on it, even if I replace it. So I then click on this icon and I go through motions of downloading the updated spotify software which then fails.
-
Inappropriate?Any further advice? I'm still unable to get the download working. I'm guessing it's because the default programme remains stuck on my 28th July version which I can't seem to get rid of.

tim, what is you username and we will have a look. -
Inappropriate?I haven't had a reply to my emails of one week ago and of four days ago. I've been without spotify for a week now and would like to be able to use your site. Please can someone get back to me and help me with this problems.

Uhm I can try to help you close the Spotify app if you can't see it and it seems to be running...
You can try the following
#1 - Press the Control Button + Space Bar to open up your spotlight
#2 - Enter in terminal and hit enter
#3 - Type following command into the terminal
osascript -e 'tell application "Spotify" to quit'
Hopefully that will force spotify to close, Mac OSX isn't my primary knowledge though ^^ -
Tim, please let me know the username as a comment here and we will try to contact you. How are you been able to remove the Spotify icon's yet? If not, can you eject the spotify.dmg file first and then download a fresh one and install (like in this video - https://www.spotify.com/blog/archives...) -
Inappropriate?Hi - thanks for your reply. I've busy and not able to follow this up. My address is timlinehan@hotmail.com. I'll try the tips you sent me.
Best regards
TIm
