Spotify and DNLA?
Hello
I hope soon that Spotify could support DNLA so you could stream to PS3 and Xbox 360 and all other things with DNLA.

Inappropriate?dempah: that is a very poor and complicated workaround compared to builtin support for DLNA and/or uPnP.
-
Inappropriate? It's not very likely that any gameconsole will add support for spotify in a near future, and you can't change songs from the gameconsole when recieving a stream via uPnP.
If you already use a mediaserver to stream content to your console
it's not that complicated to add the radioserver workaround for spotify.
Sure, DLNA or uPnP support for spotify would make things easier for the average end-user, but the result would be the same as if you just did it yourself.
Anyway, this works, now.
Integrated uPnP/DLNA support for spotify might never be added. -
Inappropriate?I really want Spotify to broadcast uPnP too. Then Spotify would definitly be worth paying for. For now I can only listen to music on the computer (long distance to the stereo) and my PC-speakers doesnt do music too well.

Inappropriate?dempah: "you can't change songs from the gameconsole when recieving a stream via uPnP"
This is not correct. It is hard to deliver whole music library to PS3 but for example playlists can be delivered pretty easily. This is something I would like to have. -
Inappropriate?DLNA could really open up Spotify to a wider audience. Most people rejecting Spotify don't want to use their computer to play music.
DLNA makes Spotify available on all types of devices like TVs, cellphones and gaming consoles.
DLNA should be the next big feature for Spotify.
Of course this could be a "premium only" feature.

Inappropriate?I support the UPnP request. Better than having Spotify streaming locally over UPnP would be the ability to plug-in with an existing media server system (twonky, WMP, etc).

I use Jamcast as upnp server to stream spotify about the house. works realyl easily. trivial to setup compared to come other servers I've met! -
Inappropriate?I totally agree that DNLA/uPNP would justify a paid subscription.

Inappropriate? Thanks for all the different views on how to get Spotify on your DNLA devices. From my view it is more interesting to be able to run spotify on a smal device and stream sound from i.e. Windows 7 to a DNLA device. As fas as I understand this should work without any need for Spotify customizations....
I’m unsure

Inappropriate?I would be so happy if Spotify implemented support for UPnP. I would also want to have the option to "transcode" the stream to ordinary wav in order to ensure that all renderers can play it. One example of a renderers that can't decode Vorbis is Linn DS-units.
The transcode shouldn't be any problems since it's doing it today. Just add the UPnP support and let the user choose if the application should send the compressed or de-compressed stream.
Thanx!
I’m hopeful

Inappropriate?Accidentally stumbled across some ncie software called Jamcast [ http://www.sdstechnologies.com ] makes Spotify play to Xbox360 and my PS3 also as a DLNA server. This has feature "Virtual PC Audio" which plays whatever is playing your PC, so I just install and play this special track on my console and play Spotify on the PC.... simple! Cheers!!

Inappropriate? This would be awsome, definatly worth paying a premium subscription to get this feature.
All the workarounds with capturing the audio does not allow you to change track and such.
