Spotify on Iphone running as background app?
One of the biggest problems for me with the IPhone app is that you need to keep it loaded permanently. You can't run other apps with Spotify in the background playing your music(as with the inbuilt Ipod application.)
Are there any plans to include this in a future release?

If you would happen to have a jail-breaked phone you would be able to send the whole app to the background though. This would still force the GUI to be generated, therefore some extra battery usage is to be expected. -
Inappropriate?Ask Apple.

Inappropriate? To be fair if Apple allowed apps to run in the background battery time would decrease as people would unwittingly have several apps running.
That said in the world of jailbreaking you can run apps in the background which works perfectly for me!
I’m happy

It doesn't have to be unwittingly, it could be explicitly activated just like it is currently when installing backgrounder. -
Yeah that's true, Apple have implimented dome features that used to be only available to jailbreakers. -
Inappropriate?Thanks Rene!

Inappropriate? You can jailbreak your iPhone (Not Recommended) and download the Backgrounder package which allows you to run programs in the backgrounds

Inappropriate?Jailbreak and install Backgrounder.
Spotify is now running in the background by default, unless I quit it manually when not listening to music

Inappropriate? What about ipod touches? Can you download backgrounder?

Inappropriate?to be fair I use spotify with backgrounder all the time and it doesn't decrease that much battery.
i only want backgrounder to be able to sporadically check other stuff like read an incoming email or check an sms.. then I continue using spotify.
those apps (email e.g.) already run in the background so the overall effect would be minimal.
safari is a different story but then yet again for many people safari runs in the background without them knowing so playing spotify while having safari in the background or surfing the web while playing spotify in the background should be pretty much the same for the battery. -
Inappropriate?Backgrounder supports iPod touch yes, also make sure you go into backgrounders settings and make them all off, so when you want to continue playing spotify in the background just hold the home button and it will tell you its still running :).
btw I recommend redsn0w, and if it gets stuck on waiting for device to reboot just unplug it and plug it back in. Redsn0w works with 3.0.1 if you use 3.0 firmware on selection, hopefully it will work with 3.1 soon
I’m great

Inappropriate?See jail-breaking makes sense. However i personally would not do it. I had a iPod Touch before my iPhone, and still never did it. Not too sure why!, I know of all the pros of doing it, and i suppose they outweigh the cons. Still personal chose i suppose.

Inappropriate? Here a solution to run spotify in the background just like the ipod application does...
