Inappropriate? We use the Ogg Vorbis q5 codec which streams at approximately 160kb/s.
High bitrate is not available in the mobile phone. -
Inappropriate? Will "the enable higher bitrate" option be available later on the iphone/ mobile app ?
-
currently there is now plans for 320 in the mobile version. -
I guess you meant to say "currently there are no plans", or are there now plans to add it? -
My bad, there is no plans for 320 in the mobile. Sorry for being unclear. -
How about just for the offline mode? -
Inappropriate?I pay subscription for 320 bitrate but cannot get it on the iPhone. The ideal would be a choice of bitrates for use on the move and in the home when the iPhone is plugged into a HiFi system. People plug in iPhones into HiFi systems. The iPhone is now a central music device. There is less of a tendency to plug in a computer into a HiFi system.
Please bring 320 to the iPhone when the iPhone is in WiFi mode or if the song is downloaded via WiFi. -
Plugging in an iPhone into a HiFi system is effectively limiting it's fidelity. It's like putting a Toyota engine into a Ferrari (unless you use a LOD for your iphone)
edit: but I'm not supposed to sit here and leave comments like that; I'm sure you are aware of it anyway. Sorry! -
Inappropriate? The limiting factor is the 160kbps not the iPhone :-)
Some people bypass the iPhones built in DAC e.g

Overkill for iTunes 256kbps perhaps, and would show up deficiencies in 320 depending on what other kit was in the chain. -
What? 128kbps on my old iRiver e10 sounds better than 1411kbps on my iPod. The bitrate excuse is getting old.
It's a known fact that the 3.5mm jack on portable Apple products is craptastic. Of course, this does not apply to when using a LOD.
