When will we have a Google Android client?
I have a T-mobile G1 running Android. I've been looking for the perfect music streaming app for it, but all currently available options have some kind of issue. Spotify for Android could be that perfect app... none currently make use of the SD card to cache music, so any loss of signal for a second or two usually kills the music. Spotify's caching to HD is such an elegant solution for PC that I'd hope the same model is used for the Android version.

Inappropriate?i'm pretty sure that once (if?) they release some sort of api for 3rd party clients to use spotify (and a few more android phones come out in the summer), android will get its fair share of choices
-
Inappropriate?I've seen the (very impressive) video on YouTube - is the application available for beta testing now?
-
Inappropriate?I would love to test this on my android phone! think this would be a great app, do hope it will be released! Its nice to have the music on our computer, but we all want to have the music with us when we are out and about!
-
Inappropriate?Be great to see spotify premium bundled with a new Android handset. The £9.99 pcm is just a little too much for me to see the value but if I could use the service (with some offline ability too!) on my mobile I'd be straight on it.
Be like "Comes with music" of whatever Nokias offering is but you wouldn't have to have some S60 nonsense in your hand..... ahh dreams :) -
Inappropriate?Would be great if premium Spotify users could sign into their account and register their Android phone now. They could then get news updates and maybe the chance to beta test the new client builds. Spotify would also then be able to see how many premium users currently have Android powered phones.
-
Inappropriate?Do you have a timeline to give us? What are the problems you are working on since it's not avaliable yet? Where is the version shown on youtube? It looked quite complete and I'd love to have it. Applications on Market gets updated quite often, and I guess that a minimum of 90% of us owning an android phone knows how to update applications when bugfixes comes. As soon as I see a Spotify application in Market you'll have me, and many others as yearly paying customers! What are causing the delays?
I’m eagerly awaiting

Inappropriate? As you seen on the blog we are working on mobile version of Spotify. We will let you know more when we can!
Please feel free to register what phone you have in to Spotify profiles, this is of curse optional:

Inappropriate?Good to see the Android client is still under development, I thought it got abandonned.
BTW is that Cupcake related to Android? :D
I’m looking forward to Android Spotify!
-
Cupcake is the code name of a version of Android (Android 1.5 I think) -
Inappropriate?Yes please.
-
Inappropriate?Does it possible to have more details about progression of development ?
I’m impatient

Inappropriate? This is an unofficial client for android, Droidify:
http://www.cyrket.com/package/se.bobc...
Only working with Premium accounts :(
I’m happy, but waiting some sort of non-premium version... i would accept so many ads! ;)
-
Well, the official client will also require premium...I'd say it's worth it for such an awesome service -
And it's gone
"Just talked to @gustavs of Spotify and we agreed on me removing #Droidify because it violates Spotify's arrangements with the music labels."

Well spotify, move your asses and get out a working client yourselves! -
"Want to apologize to all who went premium for #droidify . Please bear with us. Working HARD on getting an official client out to you."

Inappropriate? Why do all these require premium accounts?

Inappropriate?Spotify is great but for me £10 a month is too much, £5 maybe. I'm of the age I like buying CDs. So I already pay the record companies anyway.
Spotify works for me because it's free. If it was cheaper maybe. -
Well, I'm of the age of downloading free mp3:s, so I'm more than happy paying a relative small amount for a great service that allows me to easily find and listen to any musik I like anywhere, rather than the hassle of having to search and download and copy mp3:s on all my devices for every new song I want to listen to... -
I download MP3s too (although not too often). You can download MP3s and also buy CDs. Besides if you're used to free instead of paid music, why would you be willing to pay over paying for CDs? That's a contradiction.
The free service offers you just that too Zvix. Like I said £5 is fine but £10 is too much, when it offers little they offer for free. I will be using the 99p for a night service, at my next house party.
In short an Android is a must but I cannot see it being used much if it's only for Premium subscribers. -
Paying 99 SEK for all the music I want whenever I want, without any hassle AND soon in my mobile (i.e. with me all the time) compared to paying 149 SEK for ONE cd where I only want to listen to 1-3 songs...? And as I said, so much easier than having to download and organize a huge mp3 collection. Well it's an simple choice for me.
(maybe I've gotten to lazy, but it is an awesome simple service I'm willing to pay for, if it just may be for supporting the cause) -
99 SEK is quite a lot less than £10 :). I've no idea how much that is by Swedish economy but in The UK £10 is too much. The trouble also is, you still need MP3s to put on an MP3 Player etc...
Anyway, back on topic. -
UK£ 10 = 118.985278 Swedish kronor
And as I said/what I meant; with Spotify on Android I don't need to put any MP3s on any MP3 player etc...
Yeah, back to topic :) -
Won't this be Wireless and not 3G/HSDPA though? -
Maybe I'm just assuming things, but why would it only be wireless...? Then there wouldn't be much value to the app. -
Isn't the iPhone one only that? To save data costs but then the iPhone contracts don't work in the usual way (i.e - paying more for modem tethering). -
Have never heard about paying more for tethering, but maybe thats only in Sweden. How could the operators even tell if the data is from the phone or your laptop?
But they did show the offline mode in the android demo, if you want to save data traffic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ALGPk... -
Inappropriate?Empty.

Inappropriate?I use Spotify both at home and at work and I don't think it's unrealistic to charge £10 for the *convenience* of having access to *all* music *everywhere*. And there is alot more music available than I would ever buy. An android client would add to the convenience and flexibility makeing it more worth the money.
However, having said that, If I were unable to use Spotify at work, then I would not pay. If I were to only use Spotify at one of these places, then it's not worth it.
....also it's high time a client is released! -
Inappropriate?Great - can't wait guys
-
Inappropriate?I've payed for premium, and as long as we get a android client soon I don't think it is too expensive.
