Why "This album is currently not available in Sweden"?
I have come across some (of my favorite) albums that seem to exist in the database but are not playable for me (thou they were a month ago).
Is this because the labels for these albums demanded this in the contract or something else?
This is not a question about why some albums don't exist in the database any more, those albums are simply titled "This album is currently not available", and I understand why they were removed (no contract with the label yet). As i said I just don't understand why some albums are country restricted.
Love spotify except for this annoyance. I will probably go premium again after the latest update, many new songs i love was added :)

Hi Schteff,
The availability of music depends the deals we have with the record labels. If an album is unavailable in a specific country (like your example) it generally means that we don't have the rights to that artists in certain countries.

Ok, as i expected. Is this permanent or are you planning on getting world- wide contracts for all labels and artists? -
Schteff,
I can't really discuss contracts but our goal is to have all the worlds music available to you so there is ongoing work to add artists.

Ok, great! Thanks for the answers. -
I'm French but working in Norway for six months. When I tried to log on to Spotify in Norway, it said that my location didn't match my profile or something, so I had to change my profile to say that I'm Norwegian in order to start Spotify. But then some of the music I played in France is no longer available.
While I (kinda) understand why labels don't release music at the same time all over the world, I don't see why Spotify should put it's own restrictions on top of that. I'm still French while in Norway, and people do travel the world you now. -
We don't add any extra restrictions other than what the rights holders place on the music. Labels don't always own global rights to music so they can't release it in every market.
