Customizable email templates
I'd love to be able to customize the content of the emails sent by Spreedly. Mainly wanting to customize some of the messaging, but being able to do basic HTML would be a plus as well.

We're taking baby steps in this direction; the first step will be to allow you to disable the emails that Spreedly sends so you can send your own instead, planned for the next month or two. Down the road we plan to allow customization of the content, but it'll be a bit before we get there.

A lot of people ask for a "real invoice" so it would be nice if we had something to give them automatically.

"Real" invoices are coming soon on the subscriber account pages. We just deployed an important piece that will allow us to roll them out soon.

At a minimum, the ability to disable customer emails so that we can send our own receipts would be greatly appreciated. -

Having built more than my fair share of email tools, I'd like to recommend a simple token system.
I'd love to be able to provide you with a file (or block of html/text) that includes a bunch of %%tokens%% in it (e.g. %%card_last_4%%, %%total%%). You can check that all required fields are there and reject anything that doesn't have enough. Your fallback can always be the default messages you send now.
Translate your current email to this style of template and provide it as a template. You can also ask customers to donate their styles to build up a small library.
I very much like that spreedly handles the emails because it ensures that everything is timely. Adding a roundtrip to my system isn't bad, but it adds a layer of complexity to the notification process.

We have a renewed need for something like this--- Some customers of ours have multiple accounts and need some sort of identifying information sent along with each invoice at least. So if we could include some metadata, or at the very least the userid we'd be good to go. Custom templates would be even better.

We're experimenting with allowing you to turn off all Spreedly customer notifications and instead send your own; if anyone would like to try that out drop support@spreedly.com a line and we'll fill you in on the details.

@Nathaniel, is there an issue with providing email templates so user can modify them ? We as customers, dont necessarily want to send the emails out on our own. Spreedly does that well, we just want to customize the content. It can't be that hard to implement..

At the very least we would like the ability to enter the subject line for each email that is sent out.

Are you planning to allow us to insert merge customer data fields into Custom Email templates?
E.g., I'd like to have a link to the customer's own management page (so having the Customer Subscription # in a hyperlink: MySite.com/magement/?CustomerSub#=abcdefg -
